Road safety while using wearable tech like Google Glass is back in the headlines, with the acquittal of one early-adopter of distracted driving charges prompting controversy over what's acceptable to use while you're behind the wheel, and what's in fact dangerous. Cecilia Abadie was stopped by the California Highway Patrol in October 2013 for speeding, but had a further citation added on, USA Today reports, for a reason more normally associated with in-dashboard video screens being active during driving. In a San Diego court today, Abadie pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Google Glass faces driver-distraction ban in UK over safety fears

Google Glass is likely to face a ban for in-car use in the UK, with government regulators supposedly concerned that the wearable will be too distracting to drivers. The decision, still yet to be made official, could put use of Glass - which offers a driver navigation mode, among other features - in the same "careless driving" category as using a cellphone while behind the wheel, Stuff reports.
