Galaxy Nexus sales frozen: Google promises imminent fix

Galaxy Nexus sales frozen: Google promises imminent fix

Google has pulled the Galaxy Nexus from its official Play store, no longer offering the unlocked, HSPA+ version of the Samsung smartphone after Apple convinced a judge to preserve its preliminary injunction. As of this morning, the Galaxy Nexus listing shows the handset as "coming soon" with a sign-up box for notifications; exactly when it will go on sale is unclear, though some suggestions indicate a workaround might mean that happens sooner rather than later and Google has promised it will hit shelves again sometime next week.

Galaxy Nexus sales ban to stay until further notice

Galaxy Nexus sales ban to stay until further notice

This week has been a bad one for the lawyers in charge of keeping Samsung's mobile products on the shelves as not only the Galaxy Tab 10.1 but the Galaxy Nexus have now had bids to end their preliminary sales ban in two separate Apple court cases. Apple is currently working on legal suits against Samsung in regards to alleged patent infringement and has won preliminary sales bans on both the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy Nexus in the USA until the court cases take place. In other words - good luck trying to find either device for sale in the USA until the cases are resolved.

Galaxy Nexus sales ban up in the air pending appeal

Galaxy Nexus sales ban up in the air pending appeal

It appears that the case involving Apple and Google's Galaxy Nexus device (made by Samsung) has yielded a bit of a confusing set of circumstances. According to Foss Patents legal aficionado Florian Mueller and All Things D writer Ina Fried, we'll still need to wait on a ruling for the pre-ruling on if the Galaxy Nexus will continue to be able to be sold in the USA. The case at hand has Apple filing a suit against the Galaxy Nexus and has since this weekend had a sales ban enacted through the court against said phone until the court case can decide if the device truly does infringe upon Apple's patent for a '604 Siri-style quick search.

Samsung demands Apple’s Galaxy Nexus ban be frozen

Samsung demands Apple’s Galaxy Nexus ban be frozen

Samsung has appealed against the preliminary injunction blocking US Galaxy Nexus sales, arguing Apple cannot prove that iPhone market share is legitimately threatened by the Android phone. Apple secured the early injunction late last week, convincing a US judge that the Galaxy Nexus is likely to be found infringing on at least one of four patents the Cupertino company holds. However, Samsung insists that Apple's case fails to prove that the potential loss of market share caused by the third-gen Google phone is as "substantial" as the Federal Circuit's requirements.

Apple granted preliminary sales ban of Galaxy Nexus

Apple has been granted a preliminary sales injunction against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the US, with the Cupertino company now required to stump up a $96m bond in order to secure the ban. The decision was tweeted by Reuters' Dan Levine, and follows a win earlier this week for Apple against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, with the US court granting a preliminary injunction against the Android tablet in the US.

GSM Galaxy Nexus gets docks in the Google Play Store

GSM Galaxy Nexus gets docks in the Google Play Store

When Google released the Galaxy Nexus on the Play Store for a wallet-tempting $399, it seemed like they were tired of waiting for the likes of AT&T and T-Mobile to get their own versions of the developer phone out the door. Similarly, Verizon customers have been waiting about six months for first-party accessories for the popular phone. Verizon owners will have to keep waiting, but those who bought the GSM phone in the US can now deck it out with various docks.

You want a Galaxy S III, not a Google Galaxy Nexus

You want a Galaxy S III, not a Google Galaxy Nexus

This week Google revealed that they'd be selling their own devices once again, so to speak, with a Galaxy Nexus in-store before the Samsung Galaxy S III release. Of course Samsung manufactures both of these devices, and only one will be hitting your pocket for the Summer - so what's it going to be? Google wont be carrying the Galaxy S III, but it will have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich - but the Galaxy Nexus has that software in the nude.
