Fujitsu Windows 7 Tablet concepts previewed

, Oct 8th 2010 Discuss [0]

Fujitsu's dual-display phone wasn't the only prototype the company had on show at CEATEC 2010 this week; the company also brought along a couple of tablet mockups.  Neither of the unnamed slates were functional - in fact the Windows desktops were printed onto stickers and pasted onto the front of the plastic slabs - but that didn't stop NetbookNews snapping some photos. Fujitsu UH900 manual prompts convertible tablet version confusion

, Jan 19th 2010 Discuss [1]

While the Fujitsu UH900 did enough to reasonably impress us back at CES 2010, one of the more confusing design decisions the company made was to junk the convertible form-factor that had been used on previous Fujitsu UMPCs.  Going by a snippet from the user-guide, however, that might not always have been the case; a Pocketables reader spotted what looks like partial instructions for how to safely rotate a touchscreen without damaging it or the keyboard. Sharp Netwalker PC-Z1 hands-on

, Jan 7th 2010 Discuss [0]

While we were checking out Freescale’s Smartbook Tablet reference design earlier, the team there whipped out the Sharp Netwalker PC-Z1 and asked if we wanted to play with another device based on their mobile chipsets.  It seemed rude to say no; after all, this distinctive little clamshell packs a 5-inch touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard along with its 800MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor.  Check out our first-impressions after the cut.

Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 hands-on

, Jan 7th 2010 Discuss [1]

Fujitsu’s LifeBook UH900 is one of those impossibly-small, eye catching devices that you can’t help but want to take a look at, and so we gave in to our baser urges at CES 2010 and grabbed some hands-on time.  Anyone looking for a heavy duty keyboard should keep on walking, but we were reasonably impressed by how Fujitsu have balanced scale with tactile feel; you’d be happy pecking out an email or two, and it’s more than sufficient for URLs and Tweets.

Viliv N5 clamshell MID coming to CES 2010

, Dec 23rd 2009 Discuss [0]

UMPC and MID manufacturers Viliv have had a pretty good year in their segment, and they're obviously hoping to start off 2010 in the same manner.  According to UMPC Portal, the company is planning on launching two devices at CES in January, with the Viliv N5 making its debut and the Viliv S10 getting its full launch.  The S10 is a pretty straightforward 10-inch netbook, but the N5 is a 4.8-inch MID in the manner of the Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 or the UMID mbook M2. Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 benchmarked and shows multitouch on video

Fujitsu LifeBook UH900/U900 MID clears FCC

, Dec 9th 2009 Discuss [0]

Fujitsu's endearing diminutive LifeBook UH900 UMPC has been spotted whipping through the FCC [pdf link], presumably ahead of its launch in the US.  The filing tests the compact clamshell's Atheros WiFi b/g/n networking card, together with its Bluetooth chipset, though there's no mention of any integrated 3G card being profiled. Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 multitouch MID coming January [Updated]

, Dec 3rd 2009 Discuss [4]

Fujitsu have always been partial to tiny computers - the LifeBook U8x0 series still rank as some of the most appealing UMPCs around - and their latest model certainly looks endearing at first glance.  The Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 has a more traditional clamshell form-factor than the mini-convertibles in the company's back-catalog, but more than makes up with it with a 5.6-inch sunlight-readable WXGA multitouch display, 62GB SSD and optional integrated 3.5G WWAN.
