eviGroup Wallet Android MID on sale in May for €199

, Apr 30th 2010 Discuss [0]

Since we've apparently entered the culling phase of the tablet story arc - goodbye HP slate and Microsoft Courier, we'll miss your shiny renders - it's good to know that devices are still entering production rather than being canned.  French firm eviGroup have just announced that their Wallet Android MID has entered production and should be on sale, for €199 ($264), from May.  Carrypad chased up some details from director Nicolas Ruiz, including how he sees the Wallet facing against the Archos 5 Internet Tablet and what sort of help they've had from Google. Enso zenPad Android MID just $155

, Mar 25th 2010 Discuss [0]

Plenty of Android-based mini-tablets and MIDs have graced these pages before, but seldom do they manage to be both commercially available and cheap.  The Enso zenPad - a rebadge of the SMiT MID-560 - is a 5-inch WVGA touchscreen MID running Android 1.6 (with a promise from the company to release Android 2.1 "within 1 month") with WiFi a/b/g/n, support for an external 3G modem, and 1GB of onboard storage. eviGroup Wallet Android MID gets new design, status update

, Dec 9th 2009 Discuss [1]

eviGroup's Pad UMPC is all well and good, but we'd be lying if we said we weren't more interested in the French company's upcoming Android-based MID, the eviGroup Wallet.  The 5-inch touchscreen device was potentially going to arrive in France this month, but company CEO Nicholas Ruiz has confirmed that the process is turning out to be a little trickier than eviGroup expected.  The good news is that there's a new prototype - shown here on the right - which looks a lot less "iPhone inspired" and gains a front-facing webcam, and Ruiz reckons it's still on track for a January release. eviGroup Pad gets video hands-on; Update: on sale now

, Oct 28th 2009 Discuss [0]

Given how long it's taking eviGroup to push out their Wallet MID, we're quite surprised with how quickly they're working on getting their new 10.7-inch UMPC out of the door.  The eviGroup Pad has already had its first hands-on, courtesy of French site NowhereElse, who reckon the 1024 x 600 resistive touchscreen - even with a stylus - is responsive while Windows 7 runs reasonably on the 1.6GHz Atom processor. Update: The Elite 3G version of the eviGroup Pad is on sale now for €599 plus €30 shipping ($932); they'll also sell you an OS-free version for €539 ($799). eviGroup Pad Windows 7 UMPC live photos spotted

, Oct 25th 2009 Discuss [1]

French MID/UMPC manufacturer eviGroup have released a few preliminary images of their upcoming Pad touchscreen tablet, and while we're far from making up our minds about the Windows 7 slate yet, it's looking reasonably attractive in a "digital pictureframe" sort of way.  The eviGroup Pad has a 10.2-inch 1024 x 600 resistive touchscreen, WiFi a/b/g and integrated 3G, and bundles a new "AI UI" called Seline which promises less pecking with a finger or stylus and more straightforward access to data. eviGroup’s larger Wallet tablet to be Atom powered?

, Oct 2nd 2009 Discuss [0]

If eviGroup's intentions appeal but their Wallet MID's 5-inch WVGA display simply isn't enough for your browsing needs, hold on for their second device.  According to an insider, the French company's second-gen tablet will not only have a larger touchscreen display but switch out the Wallet's ARM11 processor for an Intel Atom CPU. eviGroup’s Wallet MID gets first hands-on play [Video]

, Sep 25th 2009 Discuss [0]

We've been watching the development of eviGroup's Wallet MID with no small amount of interest; after all, while Android-based touchscreen handhelds seem ten a penny lately, it's still quite rare for them to have a release date attached.  Nowhere Else's Stagueve is conveniently in France to stop by the eviGroup offices and have a play with the prototype; check out his hands-on video and some first-impressions after the cut. Wallet MID gets closer to release, US launch possible

, Aug 24th 2009 Discuss [0]

Looking strikingly like the mysterious Android MID we've been seeing so much of lately, this is actually eviGroup's upcoming Wallet MID.  First tipped back in May and promised for a launch by the end of 2009, the touchscreen handheld has been described by the French company's CEO as a "unit halfway between a cellphone and a TabletPC with a 5-inch screen", though right now it's unknown whether it uses an Intel x86 CPU with Windows OS or a frugal ARM chipset with 7+ hours runtime and custom OS.
