enTourage eDGe digital store closes down

, May 24th 2011 Discuss [0]

enTourage eDGe users have received some bad news this week. The digital store that is tied to the Android-powered dual screen tablet/eReader has closed its virtual doors. The eDGe went official in November of 2010 so it hasn't been on the market for too long. By many accounts the tablet was mediocre at best, which surely contributed to the early demise of its associated digital store. If you own one of the devices, you aren’t totally out of luck. First of all, everyone who is a Windows Phone 7 developer: watch out. You're going to want to take a look at this. For everyone else, hooray, what a fun day! Angry Birds is heading to Xbox LIVE arcade, PlayStation Network, and WiiWare, Galaxy Tab Flash turns out to be quite the dish, and Wired shows it's tatas. SlashGear Morning Wrap-up: November 12 2010

, Nov 12th 2010 Discuss [0]

What huge news overnight! Oh my goodness there is a new phone, a new phone! It either has no name yet, or might be called Samsung Elite. Then there was a late night review by the man Ewdison T on a Gateway ID49C. Then, Facebook is going to crash down Gmail with their Microsoft Office Web Apps integrated "Project Titan!" Subway lets you pay futuristically with your cellphone, Galaxy Tab Flash is what's called an "Embarrassment of Riches," and the pricetag on the original Apple-1 (made by Steve Wozniak and distributed from Steve Jobs parents house) is expected to be around $161,000 to $242,000. Entourage Pocket eDGe gets official for $400

, Nov 12th 2010 Discuss [2]

It's been available to pre-order for a short while now on Amazon, but Entourage has finally got around to officially announcing the dual-display Entourage Pocket eDGe. A smaller version of the original eDGe clamshell, the Pocket eDGe pairs a 7-inch WVGA color resistive touchscreen with a 6-inch 800 x 600 E Ink display with a Wacom active digitizer. Verizon’s Pocket eDGe gets detailed: WiFi-only version confirmed

, Sep 22nd 2010 Discuss [3]

After Verizon's EnTourage Pocket eDGe was spotted making its first, unofficial debut, the company has relented on its prolonged silence and spilled the details.  The Digital Reader met up with EnTourage and snapped some hands-on pictures - here you see the mini version nestling up with the original eDGe - with the new clamshell confirmed to have a 6-inch E Ink touchscreen on the left and a 7-inch WVGA LCD touchscreen on the right.  Two versions are planned, one WiFi-only and the other with embedded Verizon 3G. Verizon Pocket eDGe dual-display ereader caught in wild

, Sep 20th 2010 Discuss [0]

Verizon's upcoming Entourage eDGe ereader has been spotted in the wild, with chipset manufacturer Marvell accidentally allowing the dual-screen clamshell to be caught on camera during a visit by Arnold Schwarzenegger.  The device is labeled the Verizon Pocket eDGe, a reference to the smaller displays than the original eDGe. Verizon “Entourage” ereader duo due September

, Jul 21st 2010 Discuss [0]

Here's an odd one.  Verizon are already tipped to be offering at least one 10.1-inch tablet later in 2010, and are name-checked as the potential carrier of choice for Sharp's upcoming duo of LCD ebook readers, but according to Engadget's sources the roadmap has two devices billed as "ereaders" on the roadmap for September that are labelled as "Entourage".  That's got them speculating that the devices may be from the same Entourage that produces the dual-screen eDGe ereader. Nintendo DS2 details leak: bigger, higher-res screens, accelerometer, late-2010 launch?

, Mar 15th 2010 Discuss [0]

Nintendo's DSi XL isn't even on US shelves yet, and already gamers are prodding developers to find out details about the next-gen handheld.  News on the Nintendo DS2 was top of the list for RPad.TV when they hit up GDC 2010, and they've managed to extract a few choice nuggets in the process.  The DS2 - the official name of which nobody would, or could, spill - will apparently keep its dual-displays, but the panels will be larger, higher-resolution and have so minimal a gap between them that titles will be able to in effect use them as a single, big screen. Entourage eDGe gets reviewed: double-displays but half-baked?

, Mar 5th 2010 Discuss [0]

As a distinctive dual-display device (running Android no less) there's been plenty of attention on the Entourage eDGe e-reader since it was announced late last year.  Packing a separate E Ink panel with an active digitizer and a touchscreen LCD with the Android UI, Entourage bill the eDGe as the ideal education, reading and research tool.  Over at LAPTOP, however, they're not so sure; they've been reviewing the eDGe, and the end result is a feeling that it's not quite market-ready. 1Cross B’ook ereader: Entourage eDGe on a budget? [Video]

, Mar 3rd 2010 Discuss [0]

Trade shows always bring out some unusual hardware, and the 1Cross B'ook is perhaps one of the odder we've seen from CeBIT 2010 so far this week.  Borrowing from the design of both the Entourage eDGe and the Barnes & Noble nook, the dual-display clamshell ereader has a 6-inch E Ink panel on the left side and a 3.2-inch LCD touchscreen on the right; unlike the eDGe, the majority of the right side is taken up by a physical touch-sensitive keyboard and shortcut buttons. Next-gen Chipsets: next-gen convergence

, Feb 27th 2010 Discuss [1]

Even before you leave an event like Mobile World Congress 2010 you get used to people asking you what the most interesting or exciting thing you’ve seen at the show has been. This year, while there was no shortage of impressive hardware imminent to the market, the real promise for me was in next-gen chipsets. Texas Instruments, NVIDIA, Freescale, Marvell, Qualcomm and others had all brought their wares along to demo, and the promises – not to mention the step up from existing platforms – were flowing thick and fast. So, what sort of devices can we expect using these new chipsets?

, Feb 26th 2010 Discuss [0]

Entourage's dual-display eDGe ereader went up for pre-order a while back, but if you didn't get in there early you shouldn't expect to see your device until sometime in March 2010.  According to the company, anyone who pre-ordered the eDGe before January 12th will have their ereader ship this week, and Entourage have also revealed a few more details about what sort of user experience - specifically battery runtimes - owners can expect.
