Black Eee PC 900 stars in dead fish photoshoot

Of all the odd photoshoots with a new gadget, this is probably the first I've seen where a dismembered fish shares frame-time. Still, the owner of this black ASUS Eee PC 900 has done us a favor in confirming that Asustek will be making their 8.9-inch budget ultraportable with at least two of the color options its smaller sibling boasts. Until now, the company has only been showing white versions of the notebook.

Any still on the fence about purchasing a low cost ultra mobile pc should highly consider the Eee PC 900. Priced at just $549, it is impressively packed with an 8.9-inch LCD display with 1,024 x 600 resolution, an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera, 12 or 20 gigabyte of Solid State Disk (SSD) for Windows and Linux, respectively.

ASUS Eee PC 900 reviewed: ‘staggering’ value for money

ASUS Eee PC 900 reviewed: ‘staggering’ value for money

ASUS' original Eee might have impressed many with its super-budget price tag, but the relatively small 7-inch screen dissuaded others from considering it as a "proper" laptop.  While the new Eee PC 900 might only have 1.9-inches more, it means the ultraportable now musters 1,024 x 600 resolution; UK site Trusted Reviews took a first-look at the 900 and found that the extra pixels - among other things - are enough to make the laptop into a true contender.  Not as slick as a MacBook Air or Sony TZ, perhaps, but a fraction of the price.

ASUS unveil new XP Eee PCs: 1000HD XP, 904HD XP, 901 XP and 900 XP 16G

It's not a proper start to the week if there aren't a few new Eee PC models to silently weep over, and ASUS hasn't failed us with the unveiling of the 1000HD XP, 904HD XP, 901 XP and 900 XP (16G).  Fresh to the Taiwanese market, it's unclear whether the four will make it to the US or Europe.  As the names suggest, each runs Windows XP Home; the 1000HD XP and 904HD XP have 80GB SATA HDDs, while the 901 XP and 900 XP have 12GB and 16GB SSDs respectively.

ASUS Eee Note EA800 gets video unboxing; user-guide goes live

ASUS' Eee Note EA800 note-taking tablet is a curious device, opting for monochrome LCD instead of the usual frugal E Ink display, and positioned by the company as a resolutely niche, companion device rather than a converged do-anything slate. NetbookNews have snagged one of the first, managed to get ASUS to re-flash it with English firmware rather than Chinese, and then wasted no time before unboxing and demonstrating it on video.

ASUS confirms Google and Windows Eee Pad tablets for 2010

ASUS have slowly been trickling out details on their upcoming tablet strategy over the past few months, with quietly-debuted hardware at trade shows and talk of at least two models sometime in 2010, and now chairman Jonney Shih has thrown some OS talk into the mixture.  Speaking to Forbes, Shih confirmed that ASUS will be keeping a foot in both Microsoft's and Google's camps, with at least one machine running either Google Chrome OS or Android and another getting Windows, as they prepare to take on Apple's iPad.
