Details of Dell's upcoming Windows 8 tablet, the Dell Latitude 10, have emerged ahead of the slate's release later in 2012, tipping a continued commitment - for the moment, at least - to Intel. The Latitude 10 runs an Intel Clover Trail Atom dual-core, according to the system specs slide shared with Neowin, and has a 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 capacitive multitouch display with an optional stylus.

HP reclaims global PC sales lead from Apple
HP has reclaimed its crown as the world's top supplier of PCs after Apple snatched away that title late last year. According to research firm Canalys, HP has managed to surpass Apple's PC sales by about 40,000 units in the first quarter of 2012, putting HP back in the lead. The numbers have been including Apple's iPad shipments as part of its PC count.

Sub-$300 Windows 8 tablets aim to hack iPad marketshare
Sub-$300 Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets are in the pipeline as Microsoft attempts to cut iPad marketshare to under 50-percent by mid-2013, insiders claim, with 32 tablets on the market predicted by the end of this year. HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS and Toshiba are all said to be working on Windows 8 models, presumably using x86 processors, for 2012 so DigiTimes' sources say, with Lenovo and Acer particularly keen to chase the sub-$300 market and rival budget Android-based models.

Dell kills Venue, Venue Pro, but not US smartphone business
Earlier today it was reported that Dell will be discontinuing its Venue and Venue Pro handsets and pulling out of the US smartphone market. However, Dell spokeswoman Ellen Murphy has responded to PCMag to refute the claims, clarifying that the company has no plans to exit the US smartphone market and will be releasing new smartphones later this year.

A Dell display is an iPad devs’ best friend
The iOS developer's best friend might not be a new iMac or even a Mac Pro, when looking to create Retina Display apps for the new iPad, but in fact hardware with the far less fashionable Dell logo.
