Ultrabooks may be primarily focused at consumers, but how about a business Ultrabook? That’s what Dell has stumbled onto with a new entry into the Latitude range, the 6430u. Unsurprisingly, it’ll offer Intel’s Core i3, i5, and i7 Ivy Bridge chipsets, along with the typical specs you’d see on other Ultrabooks. Dell has a couple of twists though: it’ll support Intel’s vPro platform, feature an aluminium construction, and have a removable battery.

There's a whole new family of Dell computers out there starting early this summer including the 3rd Generation Intel Core set of processors also known as Ivy Bridge onboard. These computers come in both HighPerformance XPS and Vostro brands with families, multimedia professionals, and businesses in mind. Each of these computing families will have the Intel Core i7 processor embedded with in, and several models will have the option to include a lower-powered Core i5 processor instead.

Alienware M14x, M17x and M18x get Ivy Bridge
Alienware has thrown Intel's new 3rd-gen Core i5 and i7 processors at its updated M14x, M17x and M18x notebooks, promising a roughly 20-percent boost in power from the new Ivy Bridge architecture. Valve Steam Box console challenger tipped in pipeline
Digital game distribution company Valve is working on a “Steam Box” console rival to the Xbox 360 and PS3 along with set-top boxes like the Apple TV, it’s reported, an open platform using both standard and custom PC hardware. Rather than an own-built console, the so-called Steam Box would be based on an open spec design with custom Valve software, The Verge‘s sources suggest, with an Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and NVIDIA graphics at its core. A proprietary controller – potentially including interchangeable controls, such as analog sticks, new buttons and the like, as illustrated in a patent Valve filed last year – could also be on the cards.

Dell's first ultrabook, the XPS 13, is now available and the order page has gone live on the company's product page. The ultra slim laptop is priced starting at $999, but Dell has thrown in a surprise freebie---a complimentary T-Mobile 4G Hotspot device that includes 90-days of free service without a contract. Other discounts are also available, so you might be able to nab the Dell XPS 13 along with the T-Mobile 4G Hotspot for around $930.

Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook manuals leak ahead of launch
Manuals for Dell's XPS 13 Ultrabook were leaked and quickly pulled yesterday, reminding us to watch out for its launch sometime later this month. We saw the pre-production XPS 13 last month and were promised that it would be the the "world's best ultrabook," being "the smallest, the most powerful, the most aesthetically pleasing, the best to touch, the best at being enterprise-ready." Acer AM3970 Review
The mid-range desktop is a dying breed. With most consumers opting for laptops anyway, the primary reasons for choosing a desktop at all are to get below the $500 mark, get maximum performance for gaming or other media applications, or simply to have a semi-permanent installation with a larger screen than you an get while mobile. At $699, the Acer AM3970 represents one of a handful of models caught somewhere in the middle: a better processor and more RAM to get more oomph than budget desktops, but not so much that it’s a serious threat to machines closer to the $1000 mark. Let’s see how this one stacks up.
