Dell Inspiron Mini 10 details rumored: two display & CPU options?

Fresh information about the upcoming Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook has leaked, courtesy of what appears to be an official slide from within the company.  If it's to be believed, we now know that there will two processor and two display options to choose from: a 1.3GHz or 1.6GHz Intel Atom Silverthorne CPU, and a 10.1-inch WSVGA 1024 x 576 or 720p-friendly 1366 x 768 panel.

Dell respond to netbook battery issue: software to blame

After user reports surfaced last week regarding the standard battery on the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook being smaller than advertised, Dell have responded to claims that some power packs have only three, not four cells.  In a comment on our original post, Dell employee Jay Pinkert blames the third-party software being used to report on the batteries and suggests that Dell has confirmed that this is the case.

Dell had 2nd thought about their Inspiron Mini 12, perhaps the fixed 1GB memory couldn't handle the bulky vista they thought it would. They have expanded the netbook-sized notebook with Linux and legacy XP options. Showing a little love for open source user by knocking off $50 to $499 with Ubuntu installed system featuring the following standard options : 1.33GHz Atom processor, 1GB of memory and a 40GB hard drive. The XP option with similar features has the standard cost of $549.

Comparing both systems, the Ubuntu’s Mini 12 having the same three-cell battery lasts twice as long as oppose to the XP version, it’s rated for up to six-hours use. Configurable system features and color options are available on both systems as well.

Dell's Inspiron Mini 9 netbook has been the recipient of a storage upgrade in Japan, together with a few new splashes of color.  As of Tuesday November 18th, the 8.9-inch netbook will be available with red and pink lids, as well as the original white and black options.  The storage change, meanwhile, is in the shape of the "Platinum Package" which throws out the standard flash memory in favor of a 32GB SSD.

Dell have confirmed US pricing for the Inspiron Mini 12, the 12.1-inch Atom-based netbook.  The range will start from $549, with a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM and a 40GB 4,200rpm hard-drive, together with a 3-cell battery rated for up to three-hours use.  Top spec, meanwhile, is the $649 Mini 12 (after $80 instant-savings) with the 1.6Ghz Atom Z530 processor, RAM and WiFi b/g, but an 80GB hard-drive and 6-cell battery good for six-hours use.
