Dell XPS 13 Ultraportable Review

Dell XPS 13 Ultraportable Review

Dell has a reputation, deserved or not, as being a reliable, economical and (not to put too fine a point on it) dull choice when it comes to PCs. There have been many attempts to change rectify this; the first in recent memory was coincidentally titled the XPS 13. Various incarnations of this machine and others like the Adamo line have again and again tried to break this perception, and while admirable efforts, they’ve fallen mostly on deaf ears. Enter the XPS 13 Ultrabook, which utilizes Intel’s vague set of standards to hopefully stand above the crowd.

Don’t Do It Dell: Think Tablets, Not MIDs

Don’t Do It Dell: Think Tablets, Not MIDs

It looks like Dell is planning to release a mobile internet device, or a MID. The details are few and far between but the product—code-named Streak—looks like it packs Wi-Fi, 3G and Android 2.0 all into one. It is exactly what Intel has been calling a mobile internet device for the past few years: larger than a smartphone, primarily for accessing the Net, and featuring multimedia and even GPS functionality. The Archos 5 Internet Tablet and the leaked video of the Dell device gives us a better glimpse of what is to come and what it can do. Ironically (and you will see why later), when I watched the video I immediately thought: ah, so Dell wants to make an iPhone with a larger 5-inch screen!

Dell unveils new colors for Dell Design Studio based on nail polish

Dell long ago determined that the way to get consumers to buy laptops was to offer them lots of options for not only the hardware inside the computers, but the colors on the outside. Out of that was born the Dell Design Studio where you can choose custom colors and artwork to sit on the top of your notebook. While Dell only teased that sexy Adamo XPS machine today, it spent much more time showing off the new colors for its notebooks based on nail polish colors from OPI.
