iRex DR800SG touchscreen 3G ebook reader coming today

From one ebook reader to another, only this time we're looking at something with much more grunt to take on Amazon's Kindle.  According to the New York Times, iRex will announce later on today that they're launching an 8.1-inch touchscreen ebook reader in the US, the iRex DR800SG, priced at $399 and packing a 3G Gobi radio from Qualcomm.  The sticker price of the iRex DR800SG will include unlimited wireless access through Verizon's network, with users able to wirelessly download ebooks from Barnes & Noble. Bookeen's Cybook Opus 5-inch ebook reader has finally gone on sale, priced at $280 from the company's official store.  The Opus is a compact 4.2 x 6 x 0.4 inches and weighs 5.3oz; however it still packs a microSD card slot, accelerometer to flip between portrait and landscape orientations, and a user-replaceable battery good for 8,000 page turns. Bookeen have been showing off their upcoming 5-inch ebook, the Cybook Opus, and it's being met with favor by the e-ink obsessives over at MobileRead.  They describe the 150g ebook reader as "positively gorgeous" with excellent ergonomics; the screen doesn't look half bad either, a 200dpi 600 x 800 pixel panel with auto-rotation courtesy of an integrated accelerometer. Bookeen Cybook Opus eBook reader fits in your pocket

If you've been looking for a different eBook reader to try, then you might be interested in the Cybook Opus from Bookeen. This device is designed to fit in your pocket and is meant to be easy to take with you anywhere you want to go. Full specs have not yet been released, but Bookeen is letting slip that the screen will feature 200DPI and the reader itself will be extremely lightweight at just 5.3 ounces. It will come equipped with 1GB of flash memory as well. The controls are designed to be used with just one hand and you will be able to hold books from ePub books and PDF files. Several font sizes will be available and you will have the ability to organize your portable library in folders. We don't know when the Cybook Opus will be available or how much it'll cost, be we'll keep you posted.
