BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet not due until 2011
The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet might have been RIM's surprise announcement at the company's DevCon 2010 conference today, but the 7-inch slate itself was a no-show on stage when it comes to actual prototype hardware. RIM showed off a canned demo video of the BlackBerry PlayBook - which you can see after the cut - but failed to put a physical device on show.

BlackBerry PlayBook official: 7-Inch 1GHz “Professional” tablet
It looks like we might have spoken too soon. At this year’s BlackBerry DEVCON, the possibilities are endless for Research In Motion. They have plenty of pent-up rumors and speculation being thrown around. Most of that around the BlackPad, the first tablet from the house that built BlackBerry. And, sure enough, RIM is working on a tablet device. It’s not called the BlackPad, though. It’s called the PlayBook, and it is indeed the BlackBerry tablet.

It’s day one of RIM‘s DevCon 2010 event, and while the company hasn’t announced a BlackTab tablet – at least so far – they’ve perhaps done something more important for the long-term success of the platform. The key unveils this year is the new version of BlackBerry Messenger - complete with support for third-party plug-ins – the introduction of commercial services for apps, such as in-app payments and custom ads, and the BlackBerry WebWorks platform, a web-based app creation tool
RIM BlackTab could be no-show at DevCon 2010?
RIM's DevCon 2010 BlackBerry event kicks off today, and SlashGear will be bringing you all the news direct from the show. Expected to be announced is the upcoming tablet-centric build of the company's OS, but according to BGR's sources there won't be any specific hardware demonstrated or even unveiled.

$499 BlackTab BlackBerry tablet incoming in September?
The RIM "BlackTab" BlackBerry tablet will apparently be manufactured for the Canadian company by Quanta, with production expected to ship in September 2010 according to DigiTimes. Expected to be priced at $499, it will have both WiFi and Bluetooth, the latter used to tether with a BlackBerry smartphone and access the handset's 3G mobile connectivity.

AT&T sealed “Hero Fixture Launch Kit” prompts BlackBerry speculation

Verizon DROID 2 and FiveSpot global MiFi spotted; new BlackBerries incoming plus 10.1-inch tablet
A cluster of Verizon leaks this morning, with fresh sightings of the carriers' upcoming Motorola DROID 2 QWERTY-blessed Android smartphone together with details on a new 'FiveSpot' global WiFi 3G hotspot. Engadget's tipster also has news on some upcoming BlackBerry handsets, together with a 10.1-inch Verizon tablet.

BlackBerry tablet rumors resurface: video calling & late 2010 launch tipped
RIM's rumored BlackBerry tablet - aka the "BlackTab" or "BlackPad" - is once again doing the rounds, with Rodman & Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar pushing out a new report regarding the so-called companion slate. Details are in short supply and most are recycled from Kumar's early May report; he's expecting a 7-inch screen, Marvell processor and 3G baseband, with "a marginal point of differentiation being the front- and back-facing cameras for videoconferencing."

RIM “BlackTab” BlackBerry tablet has 5MP camera, slide-out QWERTY tips WSJ
Rumors regarding RIM's supposed BlackBerry Tablet companion device have again flared up, this time following a Wall Street Journal report quoting "people familiar with the device" who describe a touchscreen slate with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The BlackBerry tablet - which we've previously heard is internally codenamed BlackPad - is tipped to have 4GB of its own onboard storage and a 5-megapixel camera, but rely on a BlackBerry smartphone for its 3G connectivity.
