BlackBerry tablet rumors resurface: video calling & late 2010 launch tipped

RIM's rumored BlackBerry tablet - aka the "BlackTab" or "BlackPad" - is once again doing the rounds, with Rodman & Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar pushing out a new report regarding the so-called companion slate.  Details are in short supply and most are recycled from Kumar's early May report; he's expecting a 7-inch screen, Marvell processor and 3G baseband, with "a marginal point of differentiation being the front- and back-facing cameras for videoconferencing."

RIM “BlackTab” BlackBerry tablet has 5MP camera, slide-out QWERTY tips WSJ

Rumors regarding RIM's supposed BlackBerry Tablet companion device have again flared up, this time following a Wall Street Journal report quoting "people familiar with the device" who describe a touchscreen slate with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.  The BlackBerry tablet - which we've previously heard is internally codenamed BlackPad - is tipped to have 4GB of its own onboard storage and a 5-megapixel camera, but rely on a BlackBerry smartphone for its 3G connectivity.

BlackBerry Storm 2 with “perfect” SurePress tipped for 2H 2010

Having shaken things up nicely with a few tablet rumors, RIM are now prompting speculation regarding their plans for smaller touchscreen devices.  According to Tested's unnamed source, the company are preparing their third-generation Storm smartphone for release in Q3 or Q4 2010, complete with BlackBerry OS 6 and a refreshed SurePress touchscreen system described as "perfect".  That will, apparently, be followed by a Storm 4 in 2011.
