LTE BlackBerry PlayBook due on July 31st for $550

If you’ve been holding out for a BlackBerry PlayBook with LTE connectivity, you apparently won’t have to wait much longer. MobileSyrup has scored some info that shows the long-awaited tablet will finally be landing next week, or on July 31st to be exact. That date comes by the way of Bell Canada, just one of the carriers planning to offer the LTE variant of the tablet when it does go on sale.

McDonalds photography revealed at Watt International

This week the folks at McDonalds Canada have been kind enough to film a short video showing off what the group Watt International has done to make the burger you get in the restaurant look like a masterpiece. While they do mention that most of the shrinkage you see between the photo studio and the real thing is due to the steam effect inside the wrapper or box you get your sandwich in, the largeness of the photographed burger does have a lot to do with positioning as well. Have a peek at the advanced photo setup that makes that flat (yet ever so tasty) burger look like a tower on-screen!

If there's one thing we did not expect to be announced this week, it was that a hacker would have figured out the magic formula that allows BlackBerry devices to run Apple iOS applications. Of course it's not not magic at all, just good old-fashioned hard work in the world of coding - and from what we've seen, this could be a whole new door opened into the usefulness of the infamous PlayBook tablet as well as the rest of the ever-dimming world of BlackBerry smart devices. RIM cans 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook

Say what you will about RIM’s tablet, the BlackBerry PlayBook, but it does have its audience. Reports have been coming in across the internet that the 16GB model of the PlayBook has become increasingly hard to find, with only existing stock remaining and no new 16GB models due to hit shelves. RIM has now confirmed the move in a statement to Engadget, saying that the 32GB and 64GB models represent better value.

RIM has officially launched BlackBerry 10, the company's next-gen OS, at BlackBerry World 2012 this week, previewing the platform on a brand new developer device and pinning its hopes for the future on the QNX-based software. Previewed back in the days when RIM was still calling it BBX, BlackBerry 10 leans heavily on HTML5 for its cross-platform software support. There's also an initial developer toolkit for native and HTML5 software development, fresh and ready for download today, with RIM hoping coders get busy creating apps ready for launch-day.
