Wii U with Android tipped for launch

Today Nintendo‘s next gaming console Wii U has been tipped to be running Android applications right out of the box. This situation is not unfounded, as Android apps have been integrated into other systems, sort of, in the past, but this time it could be much more simple than what we’ve seen before. Where before we’ve seen systems such as BlackBerry attempt to integrate Android by making the process to port apps over to their system appear relatively easy, this time Nintendo may be building Android into their system, for real, to work right alongside their own user interface and software.

Blue Wii hits Walmart for Black Friday

Walmart will offer a limited edition blue version of the Nintendo Wii as part of its Black Friday sales promotion this year, it has been revealed, with the new color console priced at $99.96. Set to go on sale at 10pm on Thursday, November 24, according to details screen-grabbed from a CBS commercial and passed to Engadget, the blue Wii has already been offered elsewhere in the world, but this will be its first official debut in the US. Nintendo Wii bundle with Super Mario Wii game and soundtrack coming to US

Last week Nintendo was showing off a new Wii bundle for Europe in a cool blue color with the Mario & Sonic at the 2012 Olympics. That bundle wasn’t going to come to the US and has no GameCube support integrated. Nintendo has announced that the US will be getting its own black Wii console bundle. Nintendo Announces Red Color for 3DS and new Wii Sports Resort Bundle

Nintendo just announced the 3DS will be available in new “Red Flare” on July 14, 2011. Aqua and Cosmo Black will still be available. A new software bundle was also announced for the Wii; it will include the console, the game Wii Sports Resort, the usual Wii controller, and a second controller in Aqua. Real Racing 2 HD will support AirPlay full screen gaming

One of the cooler things that came out of WWDC 2011 is the Airplay mirroring of gaming content from iOS devices like the iPad 2. Nintendo’s opening E3 2011 keynote took a wild turn near the end with an announcement of a brand new piece of hardware. “In thinking about a new Nintendo system we knew the prevailing thought would be this: yes, the game would probably be right for all of us, but could it also be a perfect fit just for you,” said Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s Global President. “The answer to that question is an emphatic: Absolutely. Today, welcome to the world of Wii U.” A bright and simple Wii with an inverted U in a blue/green square appeared on the screen, and there was much rejoicing.
