Oracle has encountered an unforeseen issue in its ongoing Android Java suit against Google: a judge who himself codes, and knows the potential value of "stolen" code. Judge William Alsup challenged Oracle's lead lawyer David Boies over his suggestion that Google copied Java code so as to reduce the time that it took Android to get to market, Groklaw reports, insisting that in fact the relevant lines could be cooked up from scratch in exactly the same time. "The idea that someone would copy that when they could do it themselves just as fast," Alsup pointed out, "it was an accident. There's no way you could say that was speeding them along to the marketplace."

We’re all the way over across the pond today to take a peek at LG’s newest beast, the LG Optimus LTE2, complete with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, LTE data speed, at a massive 2GB of RAM. As HTC ushers in their next generation of smartphones with their hero series of HTC One devices, so too does the impact spread to their other hard-hitting brand lines like what we’re seeing here in the HTC EVO 4G LTE. This week we’ve gotten the opportunity to take a peek at the next HTC Android-based smartphone to hit Verizon – the DROID Incredible 4G LTE. This device represents what’s essentially a side-family to the HTC One series, complete with Beats Audio, an 8 megapixel camera on the back, and a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor inside. This device is not part of the HTC One series, but holding it in your hands you might never know it – consider it a hybrid of the DROID Incredible series and the power and finesse that HTC has been pushing with HTC One – a series that’s certainly turned some heads on all fronts.
Now that we’ve got our claws on the Galaxy S III for real, we’re another step closer to comparing it to Samsung’s biggest rival for the year: the iPhone 5.
