EA Games Star Wars titles to follow Batman “Arkham” model

We may be living in an age when LucasArts is dead, but EA Games are not about to let the Star Wars gaming universe fall to the wayside. This week it’s been stated by Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of Electronic Arts (EA), that they’d be pushing forth with a new model for the Star Wars gaming universe. Much as Batman’s gaming presence was made a formidable force with the "Arkham" series of games, so too will Star Wars be reborn in EA’s first title.

Batman vs Superman cast: Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred

Batman vs Superman cast: Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred

It would appear that the cast of Batman vs Superman is about to get a whole lot younger. In an announcement that suggests this push for the DC Comics-led universe of superheroes will be changing feet on a whole new level, the actor best known for his role as Mark Zuckerberg in the 2010 movie The Social Network will be inserted into the role of Lex Luthor. Better known as a bald man (though not always bald in the comic books, mind you), Luthor's name has already appeared in the first Superman movie in this universe.

NVIDIA SHIELD streams Batman 6000 miles away

This week NVIDIA started CES 2014 off with chat on visual computing, summoning "Next-Gen PC Gaming" as their first point of action. Speaking up on how they're continuing to make the PC world work in gaming as easy as a console with things like GeForce Experience, they've gotten 20 million downloads deep - with that app system alone - in support from the public. Here we're seeing the technology called Gamestream - a relatively new technology - working with NVIDIA GRID in a way we've never seen before.

Batman: Arkham Origins Review

Batman: Arkham Origins Review

After the first 10 minutes of playing Batman: Arkham Origins, my original cold attitude toward another Bat-title were doused. Hearing first of an early Batman story made me disinterested - why would I want to experience Batman before all the good villains entered Gotham City? As it turns out, there's not only a lot more to this equation than the storyline, there's also a lot more to the storyline than I expected - in the first 10 minutes of gameplay, I'd encountered four characters I recognized (not counting Black Mask, Bruce Wayne, or Alfred on the intercom, of course).

Batman Arkham Origins NVIDIA graphics optimizations and gameplay eyes-on

Batman Arkham Origins NVIDIA graphics optimizations and gameplay eyes-on

Ben Mattes Senior Producer from WB Games spoke up on the inner bits of Batman: Arkham Origins this week at NVIDIA's Montreal gaming event. Running down the details of the plotline first, Batman Arkham Origins was described as an exercise in Batman history, taking place in the second year of Batman's career - decidedly NOT the first year, as these events are covered in the comic book series "Year One." Here Batman does not know Commissioner Gordon or any other cops or investigators, he's still relatively new to the game, and throughout the span of the game he'll change from a basic masked vigilante to the real Dark Knight.

With the launch of the next blockbuster gaming title Batman: Arkham Origins, NVIDIA has decided to team up with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to package the game with their newest series of Graphics Processing Units. This is the sort of bump that NVIDIA has been known to give to only the highest-quality and graphics-intensive games in the past, most recently giving such a bump to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist - also free with qualifying pick-ups of GeForce GTX processors. Here with Batman: Arkham Origins, codes will be packaged with a series of NVIDIA graphics cards for instant download of the game.
