If you stayed around after some of the credits rolled when you saw the Avengers flick that opened last week, you would've seen those odd creatures floating in space talking about attacking Earth again. Clearly, the sequel was already planned when the original movie was launched. Disney's Bob Iger has confirmed that the Avengers sequel is in development right now.
In case you hadn't heard, The Avengers crushed box office records this weekend to take home more than $200 million domestic for Disney and Marvel Comics. But if you're not part of the Internet's seedy underbelly, you probably didn't know that a pirated version of the superhero team-up movie appeared on BitTorrent networks a full week before the May 4th release. Even with a massive amount of illegal downloading, The Avengers assembled to crush the popular wisdom of piracy opponents.
A company called Infothink has made like Director Fury and has assembled the Avengers in flash drive form. The company is offering five different flash drives for several of the major characters in the new Avengers flick. There flash is available for Ironman, Captain America, Thor, and The Hulk. There's also a silver Ironman mask that appears to be for War Machine.
Usually when a big blockbuster movie is due out in a couple weeks, especially if it's one aimed at kids or teens, it means you should be able to go to the local video game store and pick up the video game version of the flick. That's been the case with many Marvel films in the last few years. But The Avengers is so big, it doesn't have an official video game tie-in. But that doesn't mean you won't be seeing this movie represented on the shelves of GameStop.
After much buildup including FOUR feature-length individual movies for each of the heroes included in this supergroup of a movie, May 2012's Marvel Comics' The Avengers has its first real trailer. And before you comic book maniacs have a heart attack reminding the world that The Hulk is included in this movie aside those three heroes with the four movies mentioned in the first sentence, know here that not only is this the start of a different storyline for the big green goliath, there's ANOTHER new actor in Bruce Banner's role. Mark Ruffalo as Banner though should be the least of your excitement here, blasts of fire, the hoary hammer of the gods, red white and blue punches of fury and Black Sabbath throughout should sent your hair straight upwards.
This week another Guardians of the Galaxy trailer has been released with cuts far closer to what the final film will look like than the first couple of glimpses we got earlier this year. As you’ll see below, these changes are mostly in the background - when Djimon Hounsou (aka Korath the Pursuer) steps forth to dismiss Chris Pratt’s character Star-Lord’s claim to fame, it’s no longer a cloudy day. Instead they’re standing inside a collection of structures, massive and ancient.
Nokia has unveiled a couple new mobile phones that it says are the slimmest internet phones that it has offered so far. The new devices include the Nokia 225 and the Nokia 225 Dual SIM. The two phones are identical save SIM support and each has a 2.8-inch screen and a physical keyboard. Nokia 225 devices are dust and splash proof to help them last longer.
Those of you with keen eyes for name-changes will recognize a bit of a switch-over this week with NVIDIA’s mobile processor lineup. While each successive generation has been named Tegra in the end, it’s been several years since NVIDIA has used anything but a comic book hero-inspired code-name for a mobile product.* *UPDATE: not so fast! Super hero movies have been huge the last few years thanks in part to flicks like Iron Man, The Avengers, and Capitan America. Prior to those films hitting the box office, there was a spat of other super hero films that aren’t so well remembered.
There's a modder out there by the name of MGX, a fellow who appears to have made it his life's work to modify the game NBA 2K13 and NBA 2K14 through the future. What he's done this week - and what's awakened us to his works that go well into the past - is to make a demo video of his NBA 2K14 video which has the Space Jam cast taking the court.
