ASUS Eee Pad Transformer official: 16hr battery in Honeycomb iPad 2 rival

ASUS has officially launched its first Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet, the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, a 10.1-inch slate promising up to 16hrs runtime when used with the battery-toting keyboard dock. Running Honeycomb on NVIDIA's Tegra 2 processor and fronted by a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 IPS touchscreen display, the Transformer has a pair of cameras and optional 3G connectivity.

ASUS CEO: 3D quadcore tablet in 2011, maybe Windows Phone in 2012

ASUS has confirmed plans to launch a 3D tablet running a quadcore processor sometime in 2011, though the slate will not have 3D cameras like the LG G-Slate. Speaking to hi-tech.mail.ru, ASUS CEO Jerry Shen said that quadcore chips - presumably NVIDIA's Kal-El - will be essential for smooth video playback at Full HD resolution or higher. The company is aiming to be the second largest player in tablets by 2012, with a 5 to 8 percent market share.

Sony S2 Honeycomb dual-display and VAIO Windows 7 slider tablets tipped

Sony's tablet ambitions extend to more than just the S1 in 2011, according to the latest batch of rumors. Loose lips have been flapping, and tipped a dual-touchscreen Android 3.0 Honeycomb clamshell internally known as the Sony S2, along with a 9.4-inch Windows 7 VAIO slider, for release in around Q4 2011. According to Engadget's sources, the Sony S2 will have a pair of 5.5-inch displays sandwiched into an oval cross-section hinged chassis, running a heavily customized Honeycomb install on Tegra 2.

ASUS CEO promises “secret weapon” to vanquish iPad 2

If you can't beat Apple outright, hint that you can. That seems to be the strategy adopted by ASUS CEO Jonney Shih, who claims the company has a "secret weapon" it is readying to take on the second-gen iPad 2. Refusing to detail the surprise, Shih told Computerworld that the company's clandestine advantage is "something we have not shown at this time but closer to the launch time we will show."
