ASUS VivoTab Smart Tablet gets unique with folding keyboard cover

This week the folks at ASUS have revealed the VivoTab Smart Tablet with a fabulous little full type cover for wireless keyboard fun. This maching works with Windows 8 and has an Intel Atom Z2760 dual-core processor powering a lovely 10.1-inch, 1366 x 768 resolution IPS display. This machine may look rather similar to the Microsoft Surface in its outward appearance, but it's bringing an ever-so-slightly more impressive show in the details.

First images of ASUS ME172V tablet leak

We talked about the Asus ME172V tablet in the past. Back in late November some benchmarks of the little seven-inch tablet turned up showing that it was only slightly less powerful than the Nexus 7 tablet while offering a significantly cheaper price. The first round of photographs of the tablet have now surfaced showing that it will be offered in black or white colors.

It would appear that a pattern has emerged in the way certain heavy-hitting Google devices are released to the press, this pattern emerging most recently with an ASUS-made tablet that's set to be released in 2013 for $99 USD. At the NVIDIA press conference at CES 2012 we saw the first appearance of the ASUS tablet that would eventually become the Nexus 7 - before it became Google's game, it went through what we'll call the Nexus Leak Pattern. The same thing happened with the Samsung-made Nexus 10 tablet much more recently.

As it said it would back in September, ASUS just unveiled its smartphone-in-a-tablet PadFone 2 in Taiwan, showing off its sleek design and upgraded specs. This unique tablet/smartphone combo features a smartphone that slides into a slot on the back of its accompanying tablet. The PadFone 2 features many upgrades over the original PadFone, getting everything right that the original fell short of.

HP's purchase of Palm to get its hands on webOS was doomed from the start. HP was ultimately unable to do anything meaningful with the operating system. We’ve seen the rumors and leaks for months, but now an ASUS executive has all but confirmed that Google will be unveiling a 7-inch Nexus tablet later today. The exec, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to Reuters regarding Google’s plans, saying the company wished to have its own affordable tablet in place to compete with others in the marketplace.
