NVIDIA Ion 2 benchmarked: moderate improvement

, Mar 2nd 2010 Discuss [0]

Curious as to just how potent that new NVIDIA Ion second-generation chipset is?  After the disappointing benchmark results from the Acer Aspire One 532G demonstrated at MWC 2010 last month, NetbookItalia ran the new ASUS Eee PC 1201PN at CeBIT 2010 through 3DMark06to see how that fared.  Happily things seem a little healthier this time around. ASUS Eee PC 1201N gets twin reviews: capable crossover ultraportable

, Dec 14th 2009 Discuss [1]

You wait for one ASUS Eee PC 1201N review and along come two at once.  After delivering some reasonable graphics benchmarks last week, the Ion-toting 12.1-inch netbook has been put through its paces at both Noti and Blogeee and the overall impression is of a segment-bridging machine.  Not quite a netbook and not quite a "proper" ultraportable, the 1201N delivers much of the usability you'd hope for together with strong HD performance, with only a few build quality issues leaving cause for concern. , Nov 30th 2009 Discuss [0]

If you'd told us a month or two ago that ASUS' Eee PC 1201HA would be arriving at Best Buy priced at $329.99, you might have prompted a few oohs and aahs.  Unfortunately, with the company's NVIDIA Ion and AMD Congo models (the 1201N and 1201T, respectively) on the scene, the standard Atom Z520/GMA950 version seems more than a little backward. ASUS Eee PC 1201T dumps Atom for AMD Congo

, Nov 30th 2009 Discuss [0]

ASUS have pushed out another 12.1-inch ultrathin, and this time they've eschewed Intel in favor of some AMD goodness.  Unlike the 1201HA and 1201N, the ASUS Eee PC 1201T uses AMD's 1.6GHz Congo MV40 processor, along with the RS780MN chipset and ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics; that adds up to 1080p Full HD performance, though it doesn't appear from the spec sheets that ASUS have fitted an HDMI port to the 1201T.
