ASUS Zenbook Primes will offer 1080p IPS and Ivy Bridge

It was only last month that details leaked out of ASUS’ new Zenbooks, sporting Ivy Bridge processors as well as 1080p IPS screen options. The cat is seemingly out of the bag, as Engadget Chinese has managed to hunt down the new models. We’ve had enough time now with the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 that it’s finally time to put it to the test – a hardware-to-hardware comparison with its predecessor the Transformer Prime. What you’re going to see is that the first-ever tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor as well as the first ever tablet with officially licensed Ice Cream Sandwich is so extremely similar to the TF300 that it’s difficult to tell the two apart. What we’ve got here is the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300, This 10.1-inch tablet comes with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich right out of the box, has its own unique keyboard dock (sold separately) and comes in Royal Blue (which we’ve got here,) Torch Red, and Iceberg White. Let’s have a look at what makes this model cost a bit less than the Prime and if it still seems appealing without the added frills.

The quad-core chips that you’ll find in products like the HTC One X and ASUS Transformer Prime are based on an ARM Cortex A9. ARM has unveiled a quad-core variant that will use the Cortex-A15 architecture.
