ASUS has confirmed US pricing for the Eee Note EA800 digital note-taking tablet, and if the active stylus input of the HTC Flyer appealed (but the considerable price tag doesn't) then the Eee Pad could make for a very affordable - albeit monochrome - alternative. ASUS' monochrome Eee Note EA-800 has found itself a price tag and a release date, with the company bringing it to Taiwan later this week. According to ComputerWorld, the EA-800 will be priced at NT$6,999 ($228) complete with 2GB of onboard storage, WiFi, a 2-megapixel camera and an active digitizer for note-taking. ASUS' 8-inch Eee Note EA800 ereader/tablet hybrid will launch in December with a roughly $261 to $293 price tag in Taiwan, and be followed by a larger, 12-inch version hitting the market in January 2011. The 12-inch Eee Note - which will be officially announced next month, DigiTimes claims - will presumably also use a grayscale LCD display and have an active digitizer and camera for digital notetaking. ASUS has spilt the official details of their Eee Note EA800 note-taking ereader. Based around an 8-inch anti-glare 768 x 1024 grayscale display, the Eee Note EA800 supports handwritten notes with a Wacom digital stylus - that snaps into a handy dock on the top edge - with 256 levels of pressure sensitivity.
