ASUS Transformer TF101 gets ICS update

ASUS has released an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the original Eee Pad Transformer. The Taiwanese company announced the update today, posting the release notes to its blog. ASUS may have managed to turn aftersales gold into PR misery, using spec sheet small print to explain why many Eee Pad Transformer Prime owners won't get a free GPS-fixing dongle. The company was praised earlier this week for agreeing to send Transformer Prime owners an add-on to address shoddy positioning performance; now, though, ASUS not all buyers will actually be eligible, since marketing materials in some places never actually mentioned GPS location functionality. ARM unveils quad-core Cortex-A15 chip

The quad-core chips that you’ll find in products like the HTC One X and ASUS Transformer Prime are based on an ARM Cortex A9. ARM has unveiled a quad-core variant that will use the Cortex-A15 architecture. ASUS Transformer Prime update due March 29 with ethernet support

ASUS has announced that an update for the Transformer Prime is in the pipeline, though while ASUS US is coy on details, that hasn't stopped the Italian arm from spoiling the surprise. ASUS US teased "awesome new features" which the Italians promptly detailed, including a March 29 expected release date - for the local market, at least - and support for a new "Prime LAN cable" accessory that will allow the tablet's USB port to hook up to a wired ethernet cable, making the system even more useful as a laptop alternative.
