ASUS Eee Keyboard delayed until August

After telling us - and then telling us again - that the Eee Keyboard would arrive this month, ASUS are now promising their nettop-in-a-keyboard will actually drop in August 2009.  Rather than blaming manufacturing delays or last-minute firmware tweaks, ASUS claim the Eee Keyboard - which squeezes in an HD capable nettop and 5-inch touchscreen - was in fact held back while they attempted to define a niche for it to sit in.

As expected, ASUS brought along the latest version of their Eee Keyboard to CeBIT, and we had a quick catch-up with the innovative hardware.  Packing a nettop PC inside a QWERTY 'board, together with a 5-inch touchscreen, ASUS also confirmed the Eee Keyboard's current hardware specs.

Of all the new products ASUS announced at CES today, the Eee Keyboard is one of the most interesting.  A full computer built into a QWERTY keyboard, as well as Ultrawideband HDMI and WiFi b/g/n, it also has a 5-inch touchscreen for shortcuts, media browsing and use as a virtual mouse.  While just a prototype at the moment, ASUS were cagey about its potential for market availability; SlashGear spent some more close-up time to see exactly what that touch-display can do.
