Asus was one of the big brands behind the netbook craze that swept the world starting a few years back. The small little netbooks were underpowered when compared to the notebooks on the market, but the low prices and portability made them very appealing to a number of buyers. Netbooks sold in droves to users that wanted portability and basic computing needs in a cheap package. Those netbooks, like the early Eee models, were rather chunky looking though.

ASUS Eee Pad launch at Computex; on market end of July 2010

Apple's iPad may have reached the market first, but ASUS and MSI are hot on their heels.  ASUS chairman Jerry Shen has confirmed that the ASUS Eee Pad, the company's Android-based tablet, will make its press debut at Computex 2010 in early June, with a commercial launch in Q3 2010 (more specifically, late July, at least according to component makers).  Meanwhile, MSI are also ramping up to launch their tablet, the M Pad, in Q3, though they're apparently watching to see response to the Eee Pad before deciding on precise shipments and marketing.

ASUS 10-inch Eee 1000-series official launch at Computex 2008

ASUS plan to officially launch their largest Eee PC yet, the 1000-series with a 10-inch display, at Computex 2008 in Taipei, Taiwan. Believed to have the same specs as the Eee PC 901, the larger model was developed after customer feedback asked for bigger keyboards and screens. The company confirmed the 1000-series name in an invitation to Hong Kong journalists:

"ASUS is looking forward to welcoming you during Computex 2008 in Taipei, Taiwan, for the ASUS' 08 Computex Trilogy of launch events. We would also like to specially extend an invitation to you to attend the official global launch of the new Eee PC 901 and 1000 series" Jonney Shih, Chairman, ASUS

ASUS has brought motherboards to Computex as well as tablets and notebooks, with several new AMD 9 Series models offering things like AMD CrossFireX, NVIDIA SLI and Intel ThunderBolt connectivity depending on 'board. The ASUS M5A99/97 Series, the TUF SABERTOOTH 990FX and the ROG Crosshair V Formula all support 990FX/990X/970 chipsets and AM3+ CPUs, with the Republic of Gamers 'board having a ThunderBolt audio/LAN combo expansion card.
