ASUS confirm Eee Box B202 desktop: $269 for 1.6GHz Atom

ASUS have been flaunting their now-official Eee Box B202 around Computex 2008 in Taipei, with spaces on the débutante's dance-card filling up fast.  As with the Eee notebooks, both Windows XP and Linux versions of the desktop will be available, each packing a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 802.11n and DVI output.  Best of all are the prices: just $269 for the Linux model and $299 for the Windows model, each with 1GB of RAM and an 80GB hard-drive.

ASUS Eee PC looks even more tempting

The more I see of ASUS' Eee Linux laptop, the more impressed I am. ASUS grabbed headlines at the beginning of the month when they announced a compact, attractive little notebook with a bargain-basement starting price of just $199; now HotHardware have spent a little time with the Eee and, despite the daft name, come away sounding pretty impressed.

Technology conventions aren’t dying – they’re evolving

If this year's Mobile World Congress taught us one thing, it's that no matter how interesting and innovative the gadget makers and software developers of our global community are, it's the top brands that end up making or breaking the show. Make or break the show for the press, that is. Case in point: our several articles written from our chat with Google's Mathias Duarte - they ended up easily becoming some of the most popular posts we had this week, and Google didn't reveal any new products at the convention. In fact, they didn't have a stand - the chat we had wasn't even on the map. And yet, there it is - Google stole the show anyway.

Welcome to Thursday evening folks - just one more day until the weekend is officially here. iOS 6 has been out for a little more than a day now, and while there are a lot of new features to get excited about, Apple's new Maps app seems to be spoiling the party. Many are bummed that Apple Maps doesn't feature public transportation routes like Google Maps, and a group of developers set out to solve that problem with a new hack. Meanwhile, Nokia took a few shots at Apple Maps today, and we found out that iOS 6 landed on 15% of all Apple devices within the first 24 hours of release.

Microsoft Tablet: Desperation demands options

Microsoft Tablet: Desperation demands options

Two mystery Mondays in a row: after Apple's WWDC 2012 keynote last week, now here comes Microsoft with a surprise announcement of its own, believed by many to have a tablet at its core. Speculation about a new Microsoft-branded device - or devices - has resurfaced over the past week, though as before it's a haze of rumor around a few nuggets of "trusted source" insistence. Partnerships with Barnes & Noble, the spread of Xbox LIVE, or even a gauntlet thrown down to Microsoft's own OEM partners: one thing most agree on is that it's a new slate in the offing, but that leaves plenty of angles Microsoft could take.

Acer Aspire S5 ultra-thin ultrabook priced and detailed

The thinnest ultrabook in Acer's arsenal has been announced as being up for sale this month: the Acer Aspire S5, complete with the fabulously odd motorized MagicFlip I/O Port we got our hands on earlier this year at CES 2012. This notebook measures in at 0.44 inches thin at its thinnest point, with just a 0.59 inch thickness at the other end of the spectrum. It's also got a black, magnesium-alloy and brushed metal chassis and just 2.65 pounds to its name, and it's all coming at the end of this month!
