ASUS has revealed its take on the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the ASUS FonePad Note, a 6-inch Full HD Android phablet brought fresh to Computex 2013 today. Fronted by a 6-inch, 1080p Super IPS+ display running at 450 nits brightness, the FonePad Note comes equipped with a digital stylus for notetaking and sketching - just as Samsung proved there was a market for with the original Note - while on the inside there's a 1.6GHz dualcore Atom Z2560 processor, rather than the ARM chip we might have expected to have discovered.

Acer & ASUS snub Oak Trail Atom despite Intel price cuts?

Acer and ASUS have reportedly snubbed Intel's efforts to push Oak Trail Atom processors for tablet PCs, despite rumored price cuts on the chips that bring them into line with what NVIDIA is asking for Tegra 2. According to DigiTimes' sources, manufacturers are reluctant to consider Oak Trail given it is out-performed by the second-gen Tegra chip, and itself due for replacement in September 2011 by Cedar Trail-M.

If you've held off from buying a netbook because there always seems to be a new model - and a price cut - just around the corner, now might be the time to buy. Acer and ASUS are reportedly freezing netbook releases until around mid-August, according to DigiTimes' market sources, to clear their inventory in the face of the incoming Atom N550 processor.  However, Intel's pricing for the new chip - and their uncertain plans for the Celeron processor range - are prompting uncertainty.

ASUS Eee PC 1215N: dual-core 1.5GHz Atom, NVIDIA Ion, Optimus & July release?

More details on the ASUS Eee PC 1215N are seeping out, ahead of the netbook's expected debut on May 13th, and it's shaping up to be a pretty impressive ultraportable.  According to AllAboutEeePC the 1215N will indeed have the new dual-core 1.5GHz Pine Trail Atom N500 processor expected to hit production in July, together with NVIDIA's Ion GPU.  However, unlike the Eee PC 1215PN, the 1215N will support NVIDIA Optimus for automatic graphics switching.

ASUS Eee PC 1018P spotted at CeBIT: Atom N455/N475, USB 3.0 & Bluetooth 3.0

Out of all of the leaked ASUS netbooks we saw last week, the most interesting was the Eee PC 1018P.  That's now been officially announced at CeBIT 2010, and the Eee PC 1018P Prime looks even better in photos than it does in renders.  Clad in brushed aluminum, bearing USB 3.0 ports and promising 10hrs of battery life, the 1018P Prime also gets Intel N455 and N475 processors.
