Open-source robot Qbo has gone up for pre-order, offering DIY robo hobbyists a straightforward way to experiment with artificial intelligence, telepresence and object/speech recognition. Initially billed as "the Model T of robotics" Qbo is the brainchild of European start-up TheCorpora. The basic Qbo kit starts at €499 ($652) - a promotional price for the first 1,000 units, after which it climbs to €623.75 - however it's also available in two full-assembled versions. Sub-$300 Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets are in the pipeline as Microsoft attempts to cut iPad marketshare to under 50-percent by mid-2013, insiders claim, with 32 tablets on the market predicted by the end of this year. HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS and Toshiba are all said to be working on Windows 8 models, presumably using x86 processors, for 2012 so DigiTimes' sources say, with Lenovo and Acer particularly keen to chase the sub-$300 market and rival budget Android-based models. Intel Cedar Trail netbook hoard descends

If you are a netbook fan, you might be familiar with the Cedar Trial platform from Intel. Machines using the platform were expected this year, but Cedar Trail has now been delayed. Despite that delay there are a bunch of new netbooks coming that use the Cedar Trail platform. So far, the ones that have surfaced are from Asus and Samsung. ASUS Lamborghini VX6S Cedar Trail netbook gets pre-release benchmarks

This week the newest ASUS Lamborghini collaboration in the VX65 has been both benchmarked and teased by ASUS in the form of a lovely new wallpaper. This device is set to be released with a sweet Intel Atom CedarTrail D2700 2.13 GHz CPU, AMD Radeon 6470M GPU, and has a 12-inch display under a hood that looks very much to be a fire red (or orange, whatever you want to call it) Lamborghini sports car. This goes up against the Pine Trail/ION2-powered VX6 Lamborghini ASUS predecessor as well as the Asus EEE PC 1215 running a relatively comparable chipset. Who will come out on top?
