Archos Internet Media Tablet update bringing ‘innovative’ 3G features

The Archos Internet Media Tablets are set to receive a significant feature upgrade, at least those using French 3G network TIM, according to a cryptic tip from Archos Lounge.  While details are scant at present, the update is promised to "make real progress in terms of features for geeks like us" as well as comprise "functions [that] would be totally innovative for the French manufacturer".

Archos 7 Internet Media Tablet reviewed: capacious, capable & costly

Archos 7 Internet Media Tablet reviewed: capacious, capable & costly

If size is everything in PMPs, the Archos 7 Internet Media Tablet certainly has a lot going for it.  With a 7-inch touchscreen, there are certainly a whole lot fewer rivals than its smaller Archos 5 sibling faces; still, that hasn't stopped Archos from packing it with WiFi, a choice of 160GB or 320GB hard-drives, and internet browsing.  JAMM have been testing it out (including holding the photoshoot with the iPod touch shown here) and the general judgement is good.

Archos 28 and 32 PMPs Available Now

Archos is on a roll today. After officially announcing, and making available for purchase the Archos 70 Internet tablet, the company has also released a pair of Personal Media Players. Smaller form factors, but with the Android Operating System (OS) tucked away inside, making the devices more than just your average MP3 or MP4 player. You'll get to connect to friends, and play games, all on a small "tablet" device.

Archos 70 Internet Tablet Available Now, First Android Tablet with 250GB HDD

Archos has just pulled the official curtain off the company's latest Android-based Internet tablet. The Archos 70 Internet tablet may just look like another tablet on the outside, especially when compared to previously released Archos-branded Android-based tablet devices, but this one's special. Why? Because this one's the first Android tablet to feature a 250GB hard drive under the hood.

France wants tablet-tax for iPad and Android slates while Windows exempt

France wants tablet-tax for iPad and Android slates while Windows exempt

French legislators are considering imposing a tablet-tax that would affect all models with at least 40GB of internal storage, though Windows-based slates would be exempt. The proposal, reported by Numerama, is part of French "private copy" taxation which imposes extra fees on digital media like blank CDs, DVDs and thumb-drives; it's estimated it would add up to €12 ($16) to the cost of Apple's top-spec iPad or Android tablets. However, because Windows is classed as a "full" OS rather than a mobile one like iOS or Android, it escapes the taxation.

Archos 70 and Archos 101 hands-on [Video]

Archos 70 and Archos 101 hands-on [Video]

Archos weren't short of new internet tablets for IFA 2010, though it's their Archos 70 and Archos 101 which stood out when we stopped by their booth earlier today.  Measuring in at 7- and 10-inches respectively, the two Android slates (running 2.1 right now, but set to launch with 2.2 Froyo) are certainly thin and reasonable feature-packed, each toting a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, 3D OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics accelerator and WiFi b/g/n.

Archos 28, 32, 43, 70 & 101 Tablets Announced, Feature Android in Range of Sizes

We can probably safely assume at this point that tablets are here to stay. At least for awhile. And considering the effort that Archos has already put into the Android-based "tablet" market, there's no surprise here that they've just pulled the curtain off five (5!) brand new tablet devices, all featuring Google's mobile Operating System. Ranging in sizes and prices, as well as plenty of Archos-based "improvements" to the User Interface, meet the family of new Archos tablets.
