Apple HDTV tipped to include 3D Imaging Magic

Apple HDTV tipped to include 3D Imaging Magic

It would appear that the next-generation Apple TV set that's been rumored for many, many moons may well be coming with a bang - a 3D imaging bang that's more than twice its worth in bucks. It's being reported today by analysts at Morgan Stanley that Apple will not just be bringing a full-fledged TV set to the market very soon, but that it could very well be bringing with it a barrage of next-generation context-aware or otherwise 3D sensitive technology. This set of suggestions comes from a combination of a rather "ripe" market for an "iTV" product and the fact that Apple has filed a lovely collection of patents over the past set of years that together would create a magical device ready for hot sales and an imminent release.

Apple CEO Tim Cook talks competition, addresses Samsung ad

You've probably already seen Samsung's infamous iPhone-mocking TV advertisement that pokes fun at the Apple fanboys waiting in line for the next iPhone, yet Samsung touts that "the next best thing is already here." The ad ended up being named the most viral tech ad of 2012, but what does Apple CEO Tim Cook think about it? During his first TV interview since becoming CEO, Cook sat down with NBC's Brian Williams to discuss competition.

Apple TV “an area of intense interest” teases Tim Cook

Apple CEO Tim Cook has dropped a heavy-handed hint about its plans for an Apple television, revealing that the TV segment is "an area of intense interest" for the company. "When I go into my living room and turn on the TV, I feel like I have gone backwards in time by 20 to 30 years" Cook told NBC News, though refused to comment any more specifically, saying "I can’t say more than that."

Apple airs two new iPhone 5 commercials

Apple airs two new iPhone 5 commercials

Today, Apple posted up two new iPhone 5 commercials on their YouTube account. One is titled "Orchestra" and the other is called "Turkey." Obviously, we knew they would release a Thanksgiving-themed ad, so we're not too surprised here. However, the two advertisements focus on smaller features of the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 -- Photo Stream and the ambient noise sensor.

Apple HDTV product tipped as “imminent”

Apple HDTV product tipped as “imminent”

It may very well be time that Apple introduces another new product, this time taking what they've already got on the market with the ThunderBolt display and the Apple TV set-top box and combining them into one next-level product. This product - or something like it - was tipped this week by Jefferies analyst James Kisner whose anonymous source spoke with a North American cable provider (aka he said, she said, down the line) who said they were "working to estimate how much additional capacity may be needed for a new Apple device on their broadband data network." Another possibility here is that the talks earlier today with Dish and Google may have leaked over into Apple's universe.

Apple partner Foxconn reportedly USA-bound

Apple partner Foxconn reportedly USA-bound

In a surprise move that would make very little obvious sense to the average consumer, a report this week has Foxconn opening a manufacturing plant in the USA in the very near future. This would have the main manufacturer of Apple mobile devices such as the iPad and the iPhone coming to the home country of the iCreator, and according to Digitimes, they've got sources who confirm such a move. Foxconn has been the subject of many reports over the past several years regarding their production yields, manufacturing processes, and visits by Apple's own Tim Cook.

Apple takes dip after record-breaking valuation

Apple takes dip after record-breaking valuation

This morning we're seeing Apple take just a bit of a dip in stock value after having yesterday broken the historical world record for market capitalization. This company has seen growth for decades after the late Steve Jobs re-joined the company and brought it back from near-bankruptcy to profitability in the late 1990's. Since then the company saw the birth of the iPod, the iPhone, the iPad, and the current blockbuster lines of MacBook and MacBook Air - and this newest boost comes from re-envisioned versions of their mobile lineup.

Apple tipped for live TV set-top box

Apple tipped for live TV set-top box

It’s no secret that Apple has been talking to content providers in the past, presumably for the mythical Apple Television, but the Wall Street Journal reports that the company is currently in talks with US cable providers to allow consumers to use a set-top-box manufactured by Cupertino. The box will reportedly allow consumers to access live television as well as other content, according to people familiar with the matter.

Whatever Happened to That New Apple TV?

Whatever Happened to That New Apple TV?

I was using my Apple TV the other day to stream some music to my television and thought about something: prior to the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, rumors suggested that Apple was going to announce a new Apple TV operating system that would support applications and all kinds of other goodies. There was also some speculation that the company might offer up a new Apple TV set-top box that would come with some storage for the apps.

Dear Apple: Don’t Use the iPhone As the Remote for Your TV

Dear Apple: Don’t Use the iPhone As the Remote for Your TV

Although all of the talk surrounding Cupertino currently centers on Apple’s iPhone, I can’t get the company’s television out of my head. I own an iPhone and have an iPad. And although I’ll likely buy Apple’s next handset, it’s the company’s television that has me drooling.

Based on the reports surrounding Apple’s television at the moment, I can all but guarantee that I’ll be buying one. I love the idea of iCloud integration and I firmly believe that it’ll come with an App Store. Better yet, it’ll deliver high-quality visuals that should make its competition reevaluate their future decisions.
