This week a patent application has been discovered to have been filed by Apple one week ago, this patent application seeking rights to a method for fusing glass. This glass fusion process is described by Apple to be working with several different kinds of products, this ranging from iPhones to iPad, iPods to televisions, and displays in general. Apple must allow Kindle store links DoJ insists over ebook antitrust

Apple must allow Amazon, B&N, and other ebook sellers to link directly to their stores from their ereading apps, a proposed DoJ ebook antitrust settlement has suggested, as well as forcing Apple to hold off from any multimedia agreements that might increase overall market price for five years. The proposed remedy from the Department of Justice follows Apple being found guilty last month of colluding with publishers to raise ebook pricing and force rivals to the so-called "agency model" and sets out several recommendations for how the Cupertino firm could be prevented from "conspiring to thwart competition" in the years ahead.

Apple continues to quietly hunt down trademarks for iWatch in multiple markets, with the Japanese filing spotted this weekend followed by similar applications in Russia, Taiwan, Mexico, and Turkey. Although the "iWatch" name for a much-rumored Apple smartwatch had only been speculation, Apple filed to claim it in Japan on June 3, the same day as in these three new countries. Some predictions see Apple launching the digital timepiece as early as this year.
