Blame Apple for the Nexus 6’s missing fingerprint sensor

Apple may get blamed by many for trampling on innovation, but it turns out the company - or at least its rapacious supply chain - was to blame for the Nexus 6's cute-but-dumb dimple. The branded divot beneath the current Android flagship's camera may act as a handy place to rest your finger, but it was meant to be a far more useful location for a fingerprint sensor, according to former Motorola chief exec Dennis Woodside. Now at Dropbox, Woodside confirmed in an interview recently what many had suspected since the Nexus 6 was first unveiled.

Xiaomi is attempting what Apple and Google have only dreamed of

Today it became clear what it was, exactly, China-based smart device company Xiaomi was getting at when they started releasing devices outside of the mobile smartphone ecosystem. We're not just talking tablets here, we're talking TV boxes, smart TVs, smart bands, and an air purifier. The Xiaomi air purifier was revealed earlier this year as a bit of a shock to outside parties - what was a smartphone company doing releasing a home product? iPad Pro now rumored for late 2015 launch

The iPad Pro has many tablet hounds excited, and those who may want to ditch their laptop for a large-screen tablet even more anticipatory, but we’re still not getting our hands on it. Apple slips up, leaks iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3

So, hey — there’s an Apple event tomorrow. We’ve been speculating, like everyone else, that a few new iPads were coming. Typically, that’s just chatter until Apple reveals what they’ve got for us, which usually comes via their announcement. No matter how convincing the leaks or rumors are (remember the iPhone 6?!), we temper it with pragmatism, and patiently wait for Apple to confirm things. They’ve done that a bit early this time, with the new iPad owner’s manual tipping Apple’s iHand for tomorrow’s event.

New rumor says Nexus 9 coming next week

New rumor says Nexus 9 coming next week

Google’s incoming Nexus tablet is believed to be launching soon, possibly (read: likely) replacing the Nexus 10, which has languished in the Play Store since being introduced along with the original Nexus 7. A new report suggests Google will announce the tablet next week, likely positioning it as a Nexus 10 replacement. The price tag alone suggests as much, but the 9-inch screen on the Nexus 9 would likely step on big brother’s toes a bit. We are still wondering if the Nexus 9 is also meant to take the place of the Nexus 7 tablet.
