Apple certainly isn’t a company that’s hurting for money right now, and the board decided to issue dividends to all employees holding stock back in March. The dividend will be issued at a value of $2.65 per share and is available to those who hold restricted stock units, typically issued to appease employees and keep them with the company for years to come. Foxconn, Sharp building new iPhone display plant

Foxconn is partnering with Sharp to build a new plant in Chengdu, China for producing iPhone displays. The long-time Apple manufacturing partner recently bought a 10 percent stake in Sharp worth $808 million and already owns a 46.48 percent stake in Sharp's liquid crystal manufacturing plant in Sakai, Japan, said to be the most advanced facility in the country. Seagate buys LaCie for $186 million

Seagate has announced that it is buying a majority stake in rival hard drive maker LaCie for $186 million. The Paris-based LaCie is a long-time maker of premium consumer hard drives for Macs and the first ones to feature Apple's Thunderbolt technology. In a strange twist on the whole Google Motorola acquisition story, today the very recently announced new CEO of Motorola, Dennis Woodside, spoke with Bloomberg on how it came to pass that he was chosen for the job. As the story goes according to two sources familiar with the matter, Woodside was at one point (still working with Google) about to get poached by Apple's CEO Tim Cook when Google's CEO Larry Page promised him "greater responsibility" in the future. It now appears that, if indeed that particular agreement were true, that this week's appointment of Woodside to CEO of Motorola might fall right in line with this suggested reality. Kodak patent used against Apple and RIM invalid

Back in January, Kodak filed suit against Apple and RIM saying that the companies infringed on its patents. The digital imaging company filed the claim with the International Trade Commission, saying that Apple and RIM both infringe on a patent relating to the preview of images. A judge has failed to see the argument, however, saying that the patent is invalid, and that neither company violated trade laws as a result. Read The Full Story
