Apple appealed an earlier ruling by German courts that placed an injunction against its push e-mail service on iCloud after Motorola won the injunction after a patent lawsuit. To go with the Apple TV update announced yesterday, 1080p content is coming to the iCloud movie service. Apple is also allowing people who upgrade to the new Apple TV re-download movies that they purchased on older units. Presumably, if that movie is available in 1080p they can grab the new resolution. Apple has quietly activated TV show purchases on the Apple TV for owners in Canada, the UK and Australia, adding outright buying options to the existing iTunes rentals. Until now, Apple TV boxes outside of the US had only been able to stream TV show rentals bought through iTunes; now, there are reports from Canada, the UK and Australia that those limitations have been lifted. It seems that the launch of iOS 5 and iCloud is soon approaching indeed as Apple has posted a job listing looking for a new engineer in the area of iWork specifically. This person would "build the front and/or back end of scalable web applications,"noting that this will more than likely be an expansion to Apple's already existing iWork.com as well as future iCloud business expansions, all this as the applications continue to be improved for the native Mac OS X Lion as well as mobile versions.
