iCloud attacks were real: Apple comments

This week it was reported that Apple’s iCloud servers were under attack by China - as it turns out that’s not entirely true. Apple has made clear in a statement that there were indeed "intermittent organized network attacks" this week, but that they were done on people attempting to access the iCloud webpage. There weren’t any attacks on the iCloud servers themselves, nor were there any drops of user information. Apple does, however, suggest that you pay attention to "certificate warnings."

iOS 8.1 release Monday with iCloud Photos, Apple Pay

This week Apple has made with the iPhone and iPad update with iOS 8.1. This system update will bring several new features to the iPhone and iPad world, including the return of Camera Roll and the first release of Apple Pay for mobile NFC payments with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. In addition to two-factor authentication, which came back to iCloud not long ago, Apple is also letting us create app-specific passwords for various third-party apps that access iCloud. The feature will also become standard very soon.

Apple updates iWork across iOS, Mac and iCloud

Apple has pushed out new versions of iWork for iOS, Mac, and the iCloud beta, addressing some of the common requests around its Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps. The updates include the ability to view and edit spreadsheets with an iPad or iPhone in landscape orientation, and being able to control remote Keynote presentations from the iOS version of the app.

Apple TV 6.0 adds AirPlay from iCloud, iTunes Radio, more

Apple TV has been updated, with v6.0 of the set-top box's software adding iTunes Radio, music purchase support, access to content stored in iCloud, and more. The new software brings the same iTunes Radio streaming support that Apple added to iPhones, iPads, and iTunes on the desktop earlier this week to the television, in addition to AirPlay from iCloud streaming for playing videos stored in Apple's cloud backup without needing to download them first.
