Well another week has come and gone as time steadily marches on and like every other week here on SlashGear, it has been a busy one. Poor old Toshiba took the old adage "if you can’t beat them, join them" seriously on Monday and announced that it would be launching its own Blu-ray player by the end of 2009. That had to be hard to swallow for the execs who bet it all on HD DVD only to be defeated by Blu-ray. Also on Monday the slick HP Mini 5101 netbooks tipped up starting from $399. I'm not convinced we need another netbook on the market right now personally.

SlashGear Week in Review: Week 4 2009

We kicked off the week with our review of the Sony VAIO P, the company's "don't call it a netbook" companion ultraportable.  It's interesting to contrast it with Acer's just-confirmed 10-inch Aspire One, which will likely offer greater performance at less than half the price.  Elsewhere, Sanyo took the wraps off of their 2009 Xacti camcorder range, including a very tempting 1080p 60fps model, and HTC announced the Touch Cruise smartphone with an integrated GPS-tagged memory app.  In other smartphone news, everyone got surprisingly agitated about President Obama's super-secret messaging phone.

Apparently that image we showed you yesterday was forcibly taken down by Apple's legal department over on 9to5Mac. I guess that pretty much tells us that we'll be seeing some very similar-looking iPods in the near future. On top of that, we've got some of the rumored details on the new iPod Touch.
