Verizon Model Apple iPhone Hits Final Test Stage, iPhone 5 Reaches EVT

The 3,2 model iPhone, aka the most likely candidate for the Verizon release, is reported to be at the AP field test stage, which is basically the last stage of testing before retail release. This stage includes final hardware and nearly-final software. And you know what's exciting? It contains a SIM card slot. Oh joyous day, the possibilities. This slot points toward the possibility that this phone could be the one wizards and ancients have foretold about for generations: the iPhone which could be the CDMA + GSM/HSPA device to support Verizon, AT&T, and more.

AT&T activate 3.2m iPhones in Q2 2010; Apple to blitz iPad/iPhone 4 waiting lists this weekend?

There's no doubting that there has been huge demand for the iPhone 4 and the iPad, and that Apple are having trouble keeping both devices in stock.  AT&T has just announced activation figures for the new iPhone 4, and preorder sales were a whopping ten times higher than those of the iPhone 3GS a year ago.  Meanwhile, BGR has heard that Apple is ramping up for a barnstorming weekend where it will try to work through the "Priority Lists" of customers waiting for either an iPhone 4 or an iPad.

Nokia, Apple and a whole heap of hyperbole

Nokia, Apple and a whole heap of hyperbole

Nokia's new head of Mobile Solutions (the division of the Finnish company dedicated to smartphones and mobile computers) Anssi Vanjoki has come out fighting this week, promising "killer smartphones", "game-changing products" and the sort of "battle" that fanboys have been crying out for over the past couple of years. You could well argue that his counterpart at Nokia's Mobile Phones division has an easier job of it, taking on the more mundane grist of what's still the biggest cellphone company worldwide (and getting handset-hungry developing markets to cater to). Vanjoki gets a tired portfolio of devices with only the N8 a glimmer on the horizon (and that, a crueller person might add, runs an already tired OS) and the challenge of rivalling the best in Android, iOS and webOS in what has become perhaps the fastest changing segment in consumer electronics. That's a pretty hefty to-do list, so what should be his plan of attack, where does the N8 fit into it, and - in a week of iPhone 4 contention - what lessons could Apple be learning from the Finns' fall from grace?

Recent Jobs iPhone 4 emails fake says Apple PR

Apple PR's Steve Downling has denied to Fortune that yesterday's supposed email exchange between an irate customer and CEO Steve Jobs is authentic.  The conversation - in which Jobs was alleged to have told the iPhone 4 owner that Apple was "working" on a fix for the persistent antenna issue many users have reported - is now the subject of some controversy, with BGR (who initially reported the issue) posting screenshots of the email headers they were sent by their tipster.
