Instapaper creator Marco Arment is reporting that he has discovered references to two new iPads in Instapaper's device stats: iPad2,5 and iPad2,6. He's never seen these devices before, and he's thinking that they might be references to the long-rumored iPad Mini. Of course, he also points out that these entries could have been faked by hackers, but he doesn't think that's likely, and makes the case for the iPad Mini pretty well.

This week the Jury Foreman behind the Apple vs Samsung court case that's been taking place over the past few weeks has spoken in an interview to Bloomberg. This video interview has Jury Foreman Velvin Hogan speaking on the lawsuit itself, moments during the deliberation, some of the jury's "a-ha moments", and a bit more on the final verdict they ended up reaching. The video also includes Hogan speaking again on "more than just a slap on the wrist", a punishment for Samsung when patent cases are otherwise only supposed to bring renumeration for the patent holder - in this case Apple.

Apple reportedly working on new iPod touch and iPod nano designs

Rumors and reports may be flying thick and fast regarding the next iPhone, but the iPod touch and iPod nano could also sees updates this September. Just like the next iPhone, the next iPod touch will reportedly feature a 4-inch screen with new in-cell technology. The Wall Street Journal reported last week that the next iPhone would feature in-cell touchscreens, allowing for a thinner device that may also cut costs in the supply chain.

Apple patents mobile scroll bar

Today comes news of a new Apple patent that could cause problems for most of the Android devices floating around out there. The patent in question is US patent 8,223,134, and it covers disappearing vertical scroll bars on touchscreen devices in a pretty broad fashion. With the patent covering things like portable devices with a touchscreen display, vertical scroll bars that disappear after a short time, and moving the vertical bar through touch, it's pretty easy to see why this have could have a negative outcome for Android and manufacturers working with Google's Mobile OS in general.
