Dell Adamo confirmed in paid-rumor admission

Dell's rumored upcoming MacBook Air rival, the Adamo, has been confirmed by the company themselves, who have admitted to taking out an advert in "luxury" internet publication UptownLife magazine promoting the device. Dell spokesman Bob Kaufman has confirmed that the image of the advert, seen here, was a paid inclusion, but that the text (shown after the cut) was the work of UptownLife themselves.

Ubuntu Edge appears “absolutely anti-ergonomic” in the wild [UPDATE]

Ubuntu Edge appears “absolutely anti-ergonomic” in the wild [UPDATE]

The project known as Ubuntu Edge is a dual-booting Ubuntu/Android smartphone that may or may not make its way to the real world due to its slightly under-funded initiative for action - but that's not stopping early adopters from showing the machine off in a set of up-close photos. What you're seeing here is the Ubuntu Edge looking very much like the device as prototyped in the original campaign. Here we see this "smartphone and desktop PC in one" as what China-based C Tech calls "absolutely anti-ergonomic" - but what original photographer Adam Outler calls "really great and solid in the hand" - which does it look like to you?

Dell XPS 13 Ultraportable Review

Dell XPS 13 Ultraportable Review

Dell has a reputation, deserved or not, as being a reliable, economical and (not to put too fine a point on it) dull choice when it comes to PCs. There have been many attempts to change rectify this; the first in recent memory was coincidentally titled the XPS 13. Various incarnations of this machine and others like the Adamo line have again and again tried to break this perception, and while admirable efforts, they’ve fallen mostly on deaf ears. Enter the XPS 13 Ultrabook, which utilizes Intel’s vague set of standards to hopefully stand above the crowd.

CES 2012 Ultrabook Round-Up

CES 2012 Ultrabook Round-Up

If CES last year was dominated by tablets, CES 2012 has been the year of the ultrabook. Intel's ultraportable notebook trademark had already picked up late in 2011, but it's the Consumer Electronics Show this week where the big guns like Dell and Samsung came out to give it some real momentum. If Intel has its way, one of the following machines will be lightly weighing on your shoulder over the next few months.

Running either Core i5 2467M or i7 2637M dual-core processors, paired with 4GB of memory and either 128GB or 256GB SSDs, the XPS 13 measures just 12.4 x 8.1 x 0.24-0.71 inches and 2.99 pounds despite offering up to 8hrs battery life. We caught up with Dell last week to find out why they reckon the XPS 13 is the best ultrabook around.

Dell XPS 15z notebook unveil tomorrow to fight MacBook Air

Dell XPS 15z notebook unveil tomorrow to fight MacBook Air

Dell has been teasing its MacBook Air competitor called the XPS 15z for a while now. The 15z is the latest machine from Dell to try to fight the MacBook Air for dominance in the market for folks looking for thin and portable machines with more than a modicum of good looks on the side. Dell has tried to fight the Air before with the Adamo line of thin notebooks and failed. What will be different this time remains to be seen.
