Acer F1, HTC Leo coming Q4; more Snapdragon phones from ASUS & Inventec

The latest DigiTimes rumors are in, and this time they don't seem all that unlikely.  According to industry sources in Taiwan, Acer's F1 and HTC's Leo - both using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz chipset - will each drop in Q4 this year, complete with Windows Mobile 6.5.  They also finger ASUS and Inventec as developing Snapdragon-based smartphones, though those are unlikely to hit full-scale production until the first half of 2010.

Acer have pushed out their Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone range, and they've segmented the handsets into two different categories.  The Acer beTouch line is intended for style-conscious, "trendy" users, while the Acer neoTouch line are more serious, high-end devices.  Four models have been announced, the beTouch E100, E101 and E200, and the neoTouch S200 (aka the Acer F1).

Acer confirm F1 October 6th launch

Acer's F1 smartphone was tipped to drop on October 6th by DigiTimes yesterday, and now the company themselves have confirmed that the 1GHz Windows Mobile handset will arrive "within weeks".  In fact, the handset will apparently arrive in time for the launch of Windows Mobile 6.5, itself expected on October 6th, and while they're being coy on full specs, they have confirmed that retailer Clove's technical run-down is accurate.

Aside from its new budget smartphones, Acer is also walking down a more premium but still affordable path at MWC 2015. Iterating over its first smart wearable, the company is now outing a new and improved Liquid Leap+ smart fitness band that now offers more flexibility in design as well as in smartphone platform support. It is also expanding its Liquid Jade line with the new Liquid Jade Z, bringing together more powerful hardware, including selfie-centric features, without stretching the price tag too much.
