Acer confirm Linux & SSD options for 10-inch Aspire One

Acer are planning Linux and SSD versions of their 10-inch Aspire One netbook, according to the latest reports, which while not available from initial launch will follow after.  The first versions of the larger Acer Aspire One will all use 160GB hard-drives and be Windows XP based; however an Acer spokesperson has confirmed that the netbook "will be available with XP or Linux, and HDD or SSD."

Back in March, Acer rather breathlessly announced that they would be pretty much revolutionising the laptop market; in the end, they produced a new range of media notebooks, the Aspire Gemstone Blue, which while not exactly earth-shattering were still vaguely attractive and capable machines.  Now, two months later, the Aspire 8920 and 6920 are finally available in North America.  Both powered by Intel Core2 Duo T9500 processors, HD-resolution displays and optional Blu-ray drives, the 6920 has a 16-inch widescreen LCD while the 8920 has an even larger 18.4-inch 16:9 aspect panel.

Back in late September we were introduced to Acer's V Nitro Black Edition Series of gaming-centric laptops. These machines came in two forms for those in the United States, both of them bringing Full HD 1080p resolution on displays measuring in at 15.6-inches and 17.3-inches, respectively. Those who need a display with a little more oomph will soon have a new option in the product lineup, the company revealed earlier this week: a 15.6-inch notebook with a 3840 x 2160 Ultra HD resolution.

Acer Aspire Switch 12 launches in 2015 with five modes

Acer has just introduced its new Aspire Switch 12, a five-in-one convertible notebook that will be making its way to the United States and Canada in the first quarter of next year. Though Acer is still silent on pricing info, we do know what the machine has to offer: a Full HD display, Intel Core M processor, and detachable keyboard, among other things. The notebook can be used in traditional desktop fashion, or in one of four other modes: notebook, display, tent, and pad, according to the maker.
