SlashGear Morning Wrap-Up, April 27th 2011

, Apr 27th 2011 Discuss [0]

Good morning, or good afternoon to you all, depending on where you abide. It's been another busy morning at SlashGear, and we have lots of news to wrap up for you. Verizon's 4G LTE network is down nationwide, relegating those with a 4G hotspot or an HTC Thunderbolt to 1x speeds, but don't worry, there is a workaround. Also Sony defends its handling of the PSN hack, and the sluggish pace of getting information to customers. Acer comes out with not one but two 3D devices, and Nintendo lets us know that sales of its 3DS are "weaker than expected". After hearing that sales of the 3DS set records, we wonder if we can ever believe earnings reports. Much more news to wrap up, and A NEW GIVEAWAY after the cut. Read The Full Story

Acer Aspire One 532G axed over underwhelming Ion 2 performance?

, Jun 18th 2010 Discuss [0]

Bad news if you were waiting to pick up Acer's Aspire One 532G, the NVIDIA Ion 2 toting 10.1-inch netbook the company quietly unveiled back at MWC in February.  According to Blogeee, Acer has cancelled the netbook; they're suggesting that "technical problems" left Acer and NVIDIA uncertain that the performance potential of the AO532G would be in keeping with expectations, and so they pulled the plug altogether. Acer Aspire One 532G Ion 2 netbook priced at €379

, Mar 3rd 2010 Discuss [0]

Acer may have brought their Aspire One 532G netbook along to MWC 2010 last month, but they were keeping quiet on what the NVIDIA Ion 2 toting netbook would cost.  They've spilt the beans on that at their CeBIT 2010 press conference today, however; the 10-inch netbook will run to €379 ($516) when it arrives on shelves. Half-power NVIDIA Ion 2 GPU for smaller netbooks explains dreary benchmarking?

, Mar 2nd 2010 Discuss [0]

We've been all over NVIDIA's new next-generation Ion 2 today, but that excitement has now been tempered by a little small-print confusion over exactly what you're getting in your fancy new netbook.  According to a confidential NVIDIA slide posted by PC Watch, the graphics company will actually be pushing two versions of Ion 2: one for 12-inch netbooks and desktops, with 16 CUDA cores, and another for 10-inch netbooks with just 8 CUDA cores. NVIDIA Ion 2 benchmarked: moderate improvement

, Mar 2nd 2010 Discuss [0]

Curious as to just how potent that new NVIDIA Ion second-generation chipset is?  After the disappointing benchmark results from the Acer Aspire One 532G demonstrated at MWC 2010 last month, NetbookItalia ran the new ASUS Eee PC 1201PN at CeBIT 2010 through 3DMark06to see how that fared.  Happily things seem a little healthier this time around. Early Ion 2 benchmarks suggest GPU slower than predecessor?

, Feb 22nd 2010 Discuss [0]

While we grabbed some hands-on time with Acer's Aspire One 532g netbook at MWC 2010 last week, what we didn't think to do was to sneakily attempt to benchmark it.  Being the first netbook to pack NVIDIA's second-gen Ion 2 GPU, the AO532g has many would-be buyers curious as to how it matches up to the first-gen Ion chipset; unfortunately, going by NetbookNews' testing, Read The Full Story

Acer Aspire One AO751h Review – 11.6″ HD Netbook

, Aug 20th 2009 Discuss [5]

It’s probably fair to say that we haven’t been particularly impressed with what we’ve heard about Acer’s Aspire One 751. The phrase “pretty but dumb” has been muttered more than once, an aesthetically pleasing machine but one lacking in processing power. So when Acer offered us the latest version, the AO751h-1522, we jumped at the opportunity to see how it holds up to our own exacting standards. Check out the full review after the cut
