Why Apple’s 2013 promises bigger things for 2014

Apple had a somewhat strong year in 2013. The company showed off the iPad Air, unveiled a new iPad mini with a Retina display, and its upcoming Mac Pro might just be the most impressive desktop the company has ever launched. And as its revenue showed during the period, customers seemed to like what the company had to offer.

But I have a bit of a different take on the last year. While Apple had a broad launch lineup in 2013, nothing beyond the Mac Pro was truly “groundbreaking.” And by the look of things, that was intentional. That’s right – 2013 is designed to be the precursor for what promises to be a major 2014.

They've made with the teardown of both the MacBook Pro 13-inch and 15-inch units from this most recent season, and the results point toward some of the least user-friendly innards on the market. Tomorrow morning an Apple event is set to take off bringing on a set of new devices starting, first and foremost, in the iPad arena. The 5th generation iPad is tipped to appear alongside the 2nd generation iPad mini, both of them ready to work with iOS 7 right out of the box. The desktop and mobile laptop environments are also tipped to be getting an update with the MacBook Pro lineup receiving 4th generation Intel Core technology (Haswell) alongside a final push for the Mac Pro 2013 to stores.

Retina iPad mini, iPad 5 without Touch ID amongst KGI predictions

The second iPad mini will include a Retina upgrade and the iPad 5 will not have TouchID as was previously rumored, according to KGI Securities analyst Mingchi Kuo. These and a bevy of other predictions were released today in advance of the Oct. 22 iPad event to be held in San Francisco. The event will unveil a series of updates to the various iPads as well as to the MacBook Pro.
