This week may be all about the iPhone 5, but Apple is apparently gearing up for other launches a little more silently. According to DigiTimes, which has spoken to sources from Apple's "upstream supply chain," the company's suppliers have started shipping a new line of iMac all-in-ones and and the new MacBook Pro 13.3-inch with Retina Display. Apparently, these new computers will be launching sometime this month or in October.

Screens for Apple's 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, the much-rumored high resolution upgrade to the company's entry-level mainstream notebook, are already in production according to analyst whispers. "The supply chain indications are that it's for a MacBook Pro 13.3" NPD DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shin told CNET, rather than for the similarly-sized MacBook Air ultraportable. 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro benchmarks suggest incoming reveal

We have new evidence that Apple is indeed planning a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, as MacRumors has discovered a new set of Geekbench 2 results for such a machine. This isn't the first time we've seen Geekbench results for a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, as benchmarks for a laptop with the same name - "MacBookPro10,2" - first appeared last month. This new set of benchmarks has quite a lot in common with the ones we saw last month, but there are a few differences to pay attention to.

Retina MacBook Pro 13-inch appears in Geekbench

This afternoon several benchmarks have appeared in the greater archives of Geekbench (a system we also use for computer reviews) which show a brand new Apple MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display. This is different from the current model 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display we've already reviewed in that, one, of course it has a different size display, and two, that it has a significantly lower score in Geekbench than we got - a total of 7806 compared to our 15-incher's 12970. Of course it's all relative, and the important part is the fact that this device may well exist.

This information also ties in with NPD DisplaySearch analysis says via Richard Shim and Jeff Lin, both of them suggesting that a 13.3-inch panel was already being produced.

BatteryBox Review – MacBook power with MagSafe workaround

If obsessively glancing at the power meter in your MacBook's status bar is giving you eye-strain while you're away from an outlet, it might be time for an external battery. Not every power pack is created equal, however, and BatteryBox claims not only to have made a smarter and much longer-lasting battery, but one which neatly works with Apple's proprietary MagSafe connector, too.
