ASUS confirm 5 Express Gate laptops

Mere weeks after ASUS confirmed it would be loading the quick-launch Express Gate Linux OS onto all of its upcoming motherboards, the software developers behind the distro, DeviceVM, have announced that several ASUS notebooks will also include it.  The M70T, M50V and M51Vr multimedia series and the F8Va/Vr series will be the first five models in ASUS notebook range to feature Express Gate.  With it, users can be online in seconds, watch videos, listen to music, chat over IM and VoIP apps and share photos.

ASUS to preload Express Gate instant-on Linux on all new motherboards

Last year ASUS released a motherboard, the P5E3, with an embedded compact Linux distro it called Express Gate. Basically a fast-boot alternative that, in just five seconds, bypassed Windows and gave you a web-browser, media player and other apps, it was developed by a company called DeviceVM (under the name Splashtop). ASUS were obviously pleased with how the mini-OS performed, as they've now decided to add Express Gate to all of their motherboards.

ASUS N61JV brings NVIDIA Optimus to UK

ASUS USA may have beaten them to it when it comes to getting a NVIDIA Optimus notebook on the market, with the U30jc, but ASUS' UK arm has a 16-inch machine of their own that takes advantage of the automatic graphics switching tech.  The ASUS N61JV packs a 2.27GHz Core i5-430M CPU along with 4GB of DDR3 memory, but of course the interesting part is the dual-GPU thanks to both Intel GMA 4500MHD and NVIDIA GeForce GT 325M 1GB graphics.

ASUS Eee PC 1201T barebones gets $390 sticker

It's been a long time since we first saw the ASUS Eee PC 1201T, one of the company's rarer AMD Congo MV40 based notebooks, but if you have a spare $389.99 lying around you can pick one up from Newegg now.  The 12.1-inch WXGA ultraportable pairs AMD's 1.6GHz processor with ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics, though you'll need to provide your own OS if you want anything more extravagant than the quick-loading Express Gate interface.

ASUS re-announce Eee Box PC

Bizarrely, despite "officially launching" the Eee Box PC at Computex 2008 back at the beginning of the month, ASUS have now officially launched it again via a press release on their site.  Thing is, the latest B202 release actually contains less detail than the first time around; for some reason they've not repeated their original pricing, $269 for the Linux model and $299 for the Windows model.
