Seals Technologies unveils VR7 rugged GSM phone with GPS

A UK company called Seals Technology has unveiled a new rugged mobile phone that has GPS integrated designed to survive some harsh climates. The new phone is called the Seals VR7 and is an IP-67 rated GSM mobile phone. The maker claims that the phone is impervious to dust, dirt, shocks and drops.

The VR7 is waterproof to a depth of one meter for 30 minutes and can withstand pressure to 400KGS. The phone has a special optical signal for help function that can send GPS coordinates to a group of five mobile numbers if the user gets into trouble.

The phone promises to survive drops from 2 meters onto concrete and can work in conditions from -20C to +55C. The handset can send Morse code, supports conference calling, has an electric compass, offers email access, a flashlight, and has a weather forecast tool. The speaker is extra loud for use in noisy environments.
