Satechi BT Smart Keyboard takes on Apple for desktop and mobile

The Satechi BT Wireless Smart Keyboard is unique in its approach to the mobile and desktop space. Two different iterations of this wireless keyboard are coming – one in white, and one in black. Black for your PC or Android device, white for your Apple or iOS device.

But wait, you say – what if I have a black iPhone? Why, you can do whatever you want with your life, of course, but the buttons on these keyboards are mapped to their respective ecosystems.

The white version has specific keys mapped to Macs with OS X as well as iOS for iPhone or iPad. The Black version has keys mapped for PC and Android.

This keyboard is has media and mobile control keys up top, standard QWERTY keyboard setup on the left, and number pad on the right. The back end is 0.75-inches tall, while the front is just a quarter of an inch tall.

This keyboard is 1-pound light, 5-inches deep, and 15.5-inches long. To power this device you'll need 2 AAA batteries – which is a bummer, but Satechi suggests they'll last 21 weeks a shot.

Both keyboards are able to switch between five different Bluetooth devices with a press+hold of the Function button and a tap of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. We'll be checking this functionality out in our full review soon – looks slick!

The Satechi BT Wireless Keyboard will cost you a cool $54.99, priced right on top of Apple's keyboards, both around $50 USD. We'll be comparing the lot when we get our review unit in sooner than later!
