A student at the Robotics Institute, Stephens says in the video below that the robot he’s working with, the Sarcos, is very unique in the field of humanoid robots. It’s a full-body robot that uses hydraulic actuators, which gives it lots of degrees of freedom so it can move around with ease. Sarcos is roughly human-like in the way that its proportions, speed, and forces are close to that of a human.

The video shows Sarcos doing a little dance. The dance was programmed and recorded from human motion capture. Stephens said it’s difficult to program a dance by hand, but it’s much easier to have a person do a dance then copy it. There are motion-capturing cameras distributed around where the robot dances in the video.
