Samsung ZEQ Tizen smartphone readied for MWC 2014

A leak of a smartphone that looks awfully similar to the Samsung Galaxy S4 has been shown off in press photo form this morning. This device is tipped to be rolling with a 4.8-inch display with WXGA (1280 x 720 pixel) resolution as well as a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Under the hood is the first real-deal market-ready iteration of Samsung's own Tizen for 2014.

With a 136.1 x 69.1mm body, you've got a setup that's ever-so-slightly smaller than the Samsung Galaxy S4, but with a look that's essentially in-between that of the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy S4 Mini. This Samsung ZEQ 9000 will likely be the first in a line of releases from the company that will work with the ZEQ branding, this including a whole lot more than just smartphones.

While Samsung's Tizen event at Mobile World Congress 2014 is set to take place on the 23rd of February, this device shows the 24th marked on the calendar. Right up close there if you zoom in, the first screen's calendar makes it clear. This is likely due to the idea that Samsung will allow close hands-on action for the masses that day rather than the day before it.

Meanwhile you'll also notice 3G connectivity on this device. While we've seen 4G LTE on one whole heck of a lot of devices both in the United States and abroad over the past couple of years, an international release like this one – at first – will likely begin with 3G all by its lonesome. We shall see!

Above you'll also see a bit of the Samsung USPTO listing of the trademark for Samsung ZEQ, as filed for in August of 2013. Expect this release to hit the United States sooner than later!
