Google has made a conscious decision not to sell them in brick and mortar stores because they think people will confuse them with normal laptop, and don’t think the traditional stores can provide the education necessary. They have opened up their own stores in the UK to educate people about them, but their primary target is business and education, for which they do direct sales.

You can store files on its solid state drive and there is an SD card slot.

What exactly is appealing about the hardware and design? They are not much more than low-specd black boxes with chiclet style keys. Don’t take tha to mean that I think Chrome OS is somehow a bad environment, exactly the opposite. I just think that there is no need for specialized hardware for it, especially in this price range.

It would be the perfect netbook for people who use ONLY the internet or simple docs and stuff, and I bet it would sell a lot more if they were on display at Best Buy. I use mine for school and it’s been amazing. I love not having to take my charger with me.

Not going to get one my self but they are no meant to be used like a normal persons PC, the usage scenarios are that its used in a work environment where it just spends its days connected to the company cloud. Obviously they would like other types of customers to purchase them. One thing for sure though is that the target audience is not into flashing there pc’s with Linux.

Neat but so long as I can buy a decent netbook for about the same price and load Chrome to it (or better yet my linux distro of choice and chrome or chromium), There is little need to buy a chromebook and rely on cloud based content for almost everything.

No store carries them because they don’t work. Nobody will consider buying a computer without the ability to store files locally.

I agree with you Andrew88tg. I have look at Best Buy several times and they will not carry even a display model.

The Chromebooks might sell more if there was a store that carried them. I’ve looked for them, so I could check them out to see if I wanted to buy them, but nobody carries them. Its the same Nexus One mistake all over again.
